  Unregistered Bull
Choice gleanings from 45-plus years of Unregistered Bull
In this jet age, time, like machinery, seems to travel faster than ever. Trying to keep up with what’s going on is like counting a bunch of cattle during a stampede.

Pokin' Fun
This sure is the season for a mania of every sport. The Summer Olympics produced Down-Under mania, football mania is in full swing, baseball season is still hot, and if that's not enough, this is an election year. Political mania is closely related to the others because they draw a crowd and there's always a chance that a candidate will get a chance to speak. As one politician said recently after a rousing speech, "It always embarrasses me when people tell me what a great speaker I am. I never think they've said enough."

On The Edge Of Common Sense
He was lookin’ for work. I was buildin’ corrals, stretchin’ wire, layin’ rock and clearin’ brush. I asked him what he could do. He said, "I’m a cowboy." For six months Frank built corrals, stretched wire, laid rock and cleared brush. He worked hard and stayed on. It was skilled labor but hard on the back and hands.

As I See It ...
Well, it's that time of year again, folks. Just after Halloween all those mail-order catalogs flood your mailbox, and the television is shouting at you, touting the ease and convenience of stress-free shopping on-line through the internet.

Its The Pitts
The process of bovine parturition is agonizing, painful and exhausting. At least that's how it is for me; I have no idea how the cow feels about it. The reason that being midwife to a bunch of bovines is my least favorite chore is that I have no patience. I also have a knack for creating an emergency out of the simplest delivery.

Wildlife By Design
Early December marks a special time for deer hunters in West Texas: the rut. Fact is, thanks to widespread rains over the last month, the rut takes on special significance this year, as in "ruts." And some of the ruts are of Boone & Crockett proportions, at least on my lease north of San Angelo.
