Domestic Wool Slow,
Aussie Wools Lower

GREELEY, Colo. —(USDA)— Domestic wool trading remained very slow last week and at a standstill in many areas. Demand was light to moderate, best on fine wools for the felting trade.

Australia's market indicator was down six cents at 715 cents per kilo clean. The 21 micron grease wool contract for December was down seven at 655A, February down eight at 669, April down eight at 629 and June down 11 at 645. The 19 micron clean wool contract for December was unchanged at 1233A, February down five at 1185, April down 15 at 1163 and June down 32 at 1128. The 23 micron clean contract for December was down four at 508A, February up one at 518, April down four at 508 and June down four at 513. The value of the Australian dollar to the U.S. dollar was at .5227. A total of 67,158 bales were offered with clearance at 92 percent.

New Zealand's wool indicators were mixed. The fine indicator was down 52 at 1517NZ, medium up 19 at 531, and strong up five at 412. A total of 17,415 bales were offered and 92 percent sold.
