Shippers of Texas sheep to California had plenty of trouble this
week. Wednesday morning a proclamation forbidding movement of Texas
sheep to California unless they had been dipped twice in lime and
sulphur within 10 days before leaving Texas was awaiting the
California governor’s signature.
Last Friday, directors of the California Wool Growers Association
asked the state Department of Agriculture to insist on the two
dippings in lime and sulphur. He’d talked to California state and
federal authorities about this, asking that they admit sheep dipped in
nicotine sulphate, which is used here altogether, but he was advised
the California growers are "standing pat on lime and sulphur."
