Slaughter Kid Goat Prices
Mostly Lower Across Texas
Kid goats going for slaughter were weak to $5 lower in San Angelo
and Fredericksburg this week. Other classes were steady.
The Junction market was closed this week for their normal respite
during the opening weekend of deer season.
Slaughter under federal inspection the week ending October 20
included 11,329 goats.
Goat meat imports the week ending September 22 amounted to 138
metric tons, or around 303,600 pounds.
In Lometa meat type kid goats 35-45 pounds brought $95-122, 50-70
pounds $90-120, 70-90 pounds $85-97, and over 100 pounds $80-91.
Nannies made $50-64 and billies $65-80.
Hamilton kids 20-40 pounds moved from $87 to $97, 40-65 pounds
$84-96.50 and over 65 pounds $77-88; nannies were $45-55 and billies
$58-66.
In Goldthwaite Spanish kids and yearlings 40-60 pounds brought
$85-95, 60-80 pounds $79-90, nannies 70-105 pounds $45-62, billies
85-165 pounds $60-71 and muttons 60-110 pounds $64-76. Boer cross kids
40-60 pounds made $90-96, 60-80 pounds $84-94, nannies 70-140 pounds
$48-55, billies 75-200 pounds $68-79 and muttons 75-110 pounds $70-84.
San Angelo meat type kids 25-40 pounds brought $95-110, 40-80
pounds $82-94, a few $95-98 and nannies 70-130 pounds $50-61.
Fredericksburg had slaughter Spanish kids 40-60 pounds at $82-95,
60-80 pounds $80-92, Boer cross 40-60 pounds $91-105, 60-80 pounds
$85-97, meat type nannies 60-150 pounds $42-65, billies 75-180 pounds
$70-79.50 and muttons 85-110 pounds $69-83. Angora kids 30-60 pounds
brought $92-102, nannies 65-100 pounds $30-38 and muttons 60-110
pounds $34-42.
