Jay Taylor of Amarillo sold to Ray Barr of the Wertheimer-Colorado Cattle Company, 100 short age steer yearlings averaging 584 pounds at 38 cents and 75 heifers averaging 425 pounds at 37 cents. He also sold to Mason King of Amarillo, one load of steer calves weighing 425 pounds at 42½ cents. These were sold through Amarillo Livestock Auction Company.

Lester McAdams of Crowell, Texas, sold to Baxter Johnson of Crowell, 300 mixed calves averaging 450 pounds at 37 and 38 cents.

Cottonseed feed prices Wednesday were quoted unchanged from last week, with 41-percent cottonseed meal at $90, pellets $92, hulls $30, quantity basis, f.o.b. the mill in San Angelo.

Owen Brothers of San Saba last week sold, through Otho Drake of San Angelo, 500 mutton lambs at Alpine to a Friona, Texas, buyer at 28 cents a pound.

Jim Bob Altizer of Del Rio defeated Doyle Riley of Ballinger in a matched roping at Ozona last Saturday and Sunday; the contestants roped six calves each Saturday afternoon and the same number Sunday afternoon. Altizer tied his 12 calves in a total of 184.9 seconds against 204.6 seconds for Riley.

45 YEARS AGO

Col. Russell Riggins sold, off his ranch near Nogal, N.M., 144 Angus steer yearlings averaging 613 pounds at $18 and 93 Angus heifer yearlings weighing 542 at $15; also 61 Hereford heifer yearlings weighing 616 pounds at $13.50. All were sold to Ray Barr of Amarillo and were delivered Nov. 5.

Jim and Bob McCaskey of Panhandle, Texas, sold 42 heifer yearlings weighing 805 pounds at $15 to an Amarillo buyer and delivered them this week.

Mansfield Cattle Co., Vega, recently sold 180 old cows to The Rath Packing Co., Amarillo, at $7.50 to $8, f.o.b. the ranch.

Paul Wagoner of Groom is reported to have sold 52 feeder steers averaging 962 pounds at $16.40 to Homer Hill of Hart, Texas.

Jim and Lewis Williams, Panhandle, Texas, sold 50 mixed calves weighing 445 pounds at $17 and $19 and delivered them last week to Walter Smith of Wyoming, Ill.

Walter Smith of Wyoming, Ill., bought 340 short age yearling steers averaging 515 pounds at $23.75 and received them Nov. 2 from Al Gallo of Dalhart. Smith also bought 205 heifer yearlings weighing about 625 pounds at $21.85 for Jan. 5 delivery from D.M. Womble of Morse, Texas.

Cal Suggs of Wellington, Texas, sold 100 heifer yearlings weighing 550 at $23 with 10 out at $22.50 for delivery this week to Seldon Hudson of Groom.

John French of Dalhart sold and delivered 107 steer yearlings weighing about 650 pounds a $23.25 to Elmer Martin of Johnson, Kan.

A.R. Northcutt of Seneca, N.M., sold 250 heifer and steer calves weighing 444 and 453 at $25 and $27 and delivered them Oct. 26 to Ray Ellsaesser of Sublette, Kan.

Fifty-nine registered bulls brought an average of $650 each in the 20th annual Concho Hereford Assn. sale at San Angelo. Champion and top selling bull of the offering was J. Supreme Pride 25, a two year-old consigned by Frank Jordan & Son of Mason, which sold to Cecil Meador of Eldorado at $2550. Meador also paid $1075 for FWP Mill Iron B9, consigned by Floyd Prather of Comanche.

Pete Cluck of Gruver bought 89 Hereford coming two year-old bred and open heifers at $150 each in the Brownwood area.

Bill O'Brien of Amarillo sold 629 fed steers weighing 1175 pounds and grading 70 percent choice at $23.60 to a Kansas packer.

Ray Smith, Craig, Colo., has contracted 8000 Western Slope fed lambs out of a Northern Colorado feedlot to United Packing Co., Denver, at $28.25 cwt. delivered in the wool, with a 110 pound weight stipulation.

Buddy Major, Magdalena, N.M., bought in the Pie Town, N.M. area 157 Angus mixed calves, heifers weighing 315 pounds at $40, steers weighing 346 at $44.25.

Boyd Colbert, Clovis, bought in the Estancia, N.M. area 350 Hereford and black baldface heifer yearlings weighing 574 pounds at $32.

Mansfield Cattle Co., Vega, sold to a local buyer and delivered 350 Hereford steer calves weighing 463 pounds at $40.

Livestock exports moving through the six Texas ports the first 10 months of this year are 88 percent above the same period of last year at 439,777 head compared to 234,155. Most of the exports are slaughter animals going into Mexico.

Cattle and hog imports the first 10 months of the year from Canada are substantially above the same period a year ago. Feeder cattle imports from Mexico are down sharply from a year ago.

Slaughter lambs moving direct to packers in West Texas brought $80-80.75 on 120-130 pounders, recent sales in Colorado $83.50-87.50.
