Kid Goat Prices Much Higher
This Week On Texas Markets
Slaughter kid goats in Texas markets moved sharply higher this
week. Junction was $2-5 higher, San Angelo $6-8 higher and
Fredericksburg $3-5 higher. The volume at most markets was reduced due
to the heaviest rain in more than three months. But nobody was
complaining.
There were 11,636 goats slaughtered under federal inspection the
week ending January 19.
A total of 46 metric tons of goat meat were imported the week
ending December 29, around 101,200 pounds.
Slaughter goat exports to Mexico this year are up about 42 percent
at 1144 head. Exports last week were 519 head.
Hamilton sold slaughter kids weighing 20-40 pounds at $103-120,
40-65 pounds $95-110, over 65 pounds $95-109. Nannies were $54-64 and
billies $75-83.
Lometa kids 35-45 pounds made $110-119, 50-70 pounds $105-118,
70-90 pounds $95-115 and over 100 pounds $75-94; nannies were $62-80
and billies $75-90.
Junction kids brought $105-112 with lightweights $115-125,
yearlings $90-100, nannies $58-68, muttons and billies $65-88.
San Angelo moved 20-40 pound kids at $118-128, 40-70 pounds
$107-118, a few $120-123, 70-80 pounds $100-110 and 80-100 pounds
$81-93. Nannies 80-120 pounds brought $56-65.
Fredericksburg had Spanish kids 20-40 pounds $110-120, 40-60 pounds
$90-107, 60-80 pounds $85-100. Boer cross kids 15-40 pounds were
$105-133, 40-60 pounds $101-112.50 and 60-80 pounds $89-109.50. Meat
type nannies 55-130 pounds brought $55-74, billies 100-200 pounds
$72-76 and muttons 85-115 pounds $79-88.
Kids 40-80 pounds moved direct in West Texas at $100-105.
