Texas Slaughter Goat Prices
Tumbled Around $5 This Week
Most slaughter goat markets around the state lost about $5 this
week, the first decline in about four weeks.
Goat slaughter under federal inspection around the country the week
ending April 6 totaled 9619 head.
Goat meat imports the week ending March 16 were 175 metric tons, or
around 385,000 pounds.
Hamilton quoted 20-40 pound slaughter kids $95-113, 40-65 pounds
$95-111 and over 65 pounds $94-105. Nannies brought $47-61 and billies
$66-81.
Lometa had 35-45 pound kids at $90-106, 50-70 pounds $90-114, 70-90
pounds $85-108 and over 100 pounds $70-80. Nannies were $55-73 and
billies $70-83.
Goldthwaite kids weighing 15-40 pounds made $90-110, 40-60 pounds
$98-114, 60-80 pounds $100-114, nannies 80-140 pounds $45-63 and
billies 100-200 pounds $71-77.
Junction small kids brought $88-103, middleweights $100-112 and
yearlings $90-100; nannies were $55-62 and billies and muttons $65-75.
San Angelo kids 40-80 pounds brought $102-108 and 80-110 pounds
$95-109; nannies 70-125 pounds were $60-69 and billies 100-250 pounds
$69-77.50.
Fredericksburg had 15-40 pound kids at $90-113, 40-60 pounds
$94-110, 60-80 pounds $95-109, nannies 70-150 pounds $45-55, a few
$65, billies 90-200 pounds $75-83 and muttons 70-110 pounds $76-84.
Kids 40-60 pounds moving direct in West Texas brought $100-105.
