Domestic Wool Slow,
Aussie Wools Lower
GREELEY, Colo. —(USDA)— Domestic wool trading is winding down
now as shearing is completed in all areas. Demand was moderate to good
for the historically low supplies. The undertone was steady on both
grease and clean sales.
In Territory trading: Wyoming, reputation clip of 113,000 lbs.,
classed/skirted, 3-3.25 inch, 21-23.5 micron, including 19-20 micron
yearling wool, average yield $.87 grease. Numerous clips totaling
98,000 lbs., original bag, bellies out and untied, staple length 21-22
micron, average to high yield $.91-1.05 f.o.b. grease; 62,000 lbs. OB,
BOU, three inch plus 20.5-21.5 micron, low yielding $1.83 clean net
producer; Colorado, numerous small lots totaling 40,000 lbs. 23-25
micron, staple wools, low to average yield $.65 with blackface wools
28-32 micron $.25.
In Warehouse trading: 560,000 lbs. reported, graded, staple,
20.5-22 micron $2-2.10 clean, delivered, and 22-23.5 micron
$1.95-2.05, OB, BOU wools 2.75-3 inch, 22-23.5 micron $1.70-1.80,
23.5-25 micron $1.55-1.70, 25-26.5 micron $1.40-1.50, 26.5-28 micron
$1.25-1.40 and 28-29.5 micron $1.10-1.20. A few sales of low to
average yielding wools 21-23 micron 2.75-3 inch $1.65-1.70 f.o.b.
warehouses.
The Australian market indicator was down 11 to close at 880A cents
per kilo clean, last year 822A. A total of 37,157 bales were offered
with clearance at 86 percent. The grease 21 micron contracts for June
were up 15 at 949A, August down three at 897, October up one at 880,
December up three at 881, February up four at 884, April up two at
874. The 19 micron clean contracts for June were down 13 at 997A,
August down seven 921, October down three at 1005 and December down 20
at 995. The 23 micron clean wool contracts for June were down seven at
921A, August up seven at 895, October up 16 at 861 and December down
14 at 834. The current exchange rate is .5704 to the U.S. dollar,
compared to .5145 last year.
No sales were conducted in New Zealand.
