Choice gleanings from 45-plus years of Unregistered Bull
If I had any legal training or the money to buy such, I’d rush to the aid of three old ranching friends who made national news this week.

Pokin' Fun
Get ready, sports fans. This news could start a national trend. Everybody knows about baseball and beer, but have you heard about beer baseball?

Shortgrass Country
During the Depression years of the thirties and into the next decade, ranch wives were identified by their baking skills. "Miss Myrtle," they’d say, "can shore bake cornbread, but her biscuits would sink a trotline to the bottom of the creek." Or, "I’ll swear, ‘Miss Ruby’ makes the lightest biscuits, but when we were helping shear out there, the hound dogs wouldn’t eat her cornbread."

On The Edge Of Common Sense
By the way of introduction, let me say that I, Pancho Villa de Perro Valiente, am the new head of Ranch Security at the Black Rancho on Red Chile Road. I come from a long line of Australian Shepherd cowdogs and I am assisted by Hattie, hoof-eater and Blue Heeler cross.

Its The Pitts
I'm not throwing any rocks at Regis, but there's something wrong when the host of "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" makes 1000 times more per week than the average working man in this country. If my math is correct, his $35 million yearly salary comes to $673,000 per week. The average working man makes $672.

On Matters of...Equine
Whether we are faced with early weaning, or foals that have been orphaned by a natural disaster, the effects have similar repercussions. Over the years we have done extensive research on early weaning. During this time we have been unfortunate in that we have been presented with several orphans by virtue of losing a mother during or soon after birth.

The Computer& The Cowboy
The good news is it’s raining here in Callahan County. The bad news is it’s not raining everywhere it is needed. Maybe this will move into Colorado and Arizona and help with the fires. If lightning will let you log onto your computer, now is a good time to get smarter about making money in agriculture. If you don’t own a computer, maybe this will help you see how one can increase your wealth.

Palabras
As a dozen members of my family gathered ‘round this past July 4th, I asked my dad to say the blessing and he suggested that we say the Pledge of Allegiance instead. So, in unison, we spoke in strong voices those words each of us has said since we were in kindergarten. I had been planning to write about justice before that celebration, but his request reinforced my goal.
