Special Sales Higher
In Mason And San Saba
(Note: The following report was unavailable last week)
Lightweight steers and heifers were $2-3 higher in special stocker
and feeder sales at Mason and San Saba July 8 and 11, heavyweights
$1-3 higher, packer cows and bulls steady, bred cows and young pairs
strong in a special replacement sale at San Saba. Receipts for the two
sales totaled 2772 head.
Feeder steers: choice lightweight calves $95-117, mediumweight
$88-101, heavyweight $78-85; choice yearlings, lightweight $77-87,
heavyweight $68.50-75; No. 2 calves and yearlings $70-78.
Feeder heifers: choice lightweight calves $88-95, mediumweight
$80-88, heavyweight $72-78.50; choice yearlings, lightweight $70-75,
heavyweight $60-70; No. 2 calves and yearlings $65-75; shorties and
plainer calves and yearlings $58-70.
Slaughter cows: low yielding $30-33, medium yielding $34-37.50,
high yielding $38-42.50; bulls, high yielding $53-57.50, medium
yielding $50-53, low yielding $46-49, feeder bulls $45-52; heiferettes
and young stock cows $48-68, choice bred cows $700-870 per head,
medium to good bred cows $600-690, plainer and older bred cows
$500-580; cow-calf pairs, choice $950-1290 per pair, medium to good
$650-850, plainer and older pairs $550-625.
