Continue Roller Coaster Ride
Texas slaughter meat type kid goat prices bounced back from last
week’s lower trend, as has been the rule the last few months. Up a
week or two, then down a week or two. Junction and San Angelo were
$2-4 higher this week, Fredericksburg steady.
Slaughter goats exported to Mexico last week were 682 head,
bringing the year to date figure to 12,122 head, down around 26
percent.
Goat slaughter under federal inspection the week ending July 13
totaled 11,001 head.
Lometa quoted 35-45 pound slaughter kids $75-98, 50-70 pounds
$75-94 and 70-90 pounds $75-88. Nannies brought $35-51 and billies
$65-74.
Goldthwaite kids 15-40 pounds moved for $82-92, 40-60 pounds
$80-93, 60-80 pounds $77-84; nannies 75-140 pounds were $37-55,
billies 90-120 pounds $65-75.50, and muttons 80-100 pounds $70-85.
Hamilton kids 20-40 pounds brought $86-98, 40-65 pounds $82-97 and
over 65 pounds $81-93. Nannies were $39-44 and billies $65-76.
Junction kids sold for $80-89, lightweight $60-65, yearlings
$65-92; nannies brought $50-56, a few $60-75, billies $65-75 and
muttons $85-99.
In San Angelo 30-40 pound kids were $80-90, 40-60 pounds $80-87.50,
60-80 pounds $80-85, nannies 90-135 pounds $51-62, and billies 100-150
pounds $67-79, 150-250 pounds $65-76.
Fredericksburg had 20-40 pound kids at $80-92, 40-60 pounds
$80-87.50 and 60-80 pounds $80-85. Nannies 85-120 pounds were $42-55,
billies 95-150 pounds $70-73.50 and muttons 75-105 pounds $95-110.
Slaughter kids weighing 40-80 pound kids moved direct in West Texas
at $90-92, a few $95.
