Fat, Feeder Lamb Prices Mostly Steady
Lamb prices were mostly steady this week, with only minor price changes in some areas. Slaughter ewes were steady to $3 higher in Texas and steady in the Midwest markets.

Fed Cattle Sell Lower In Direct Trading
Direct slaughter cattle trading was moderate last week under good demand, prices steady to $1 lower on a dressed basis in the north and $1 lower live in the Southern Plains. After two weeks of sluggish cattle sales in the south, sellers acquiesced early in the period to move cattle.

Angelo Feeder Lambs Firm, Cattle Weak
Feeder lambs sold firm this week, slaughter lambs firm, slaughter ewes firm to $3 higher; nanny goats were firm, kids $2-3 higher. Receipts totaled 13,672 head, around 45 percent slaughter ewes, 10 percent feeder lambs, 10 percent slaughter lambs and 35 percent goats.

Kansas Direct Feeder Cattle Prices Steady
Feeder steers and heifers sold steady last week in Kansas direct trade. The weather was hot and dry. Sales were confirmed on 16,777 head.

Lometa Sheep, Goats Sell Sharply Lower
Trading was active with sheep and goat prices $5-10 lower. Receipts totaled 1641 head.

Goldthwaite Lambs Steady, Kids Lower
Slaughter lambs sold steady; feeder and slaughter kids were $3-5 lower, stock nannies in good demand. Receipts totaled 1657 head.

Producers Internet Offers 2000 Cattle
Producers Internet Auction offered 2000 feeder cattle from Florida, Georgia and Mississippi. Delivery was current to November.

Graham Feeders Steady, Calves On Higher Side
Feeder steers and heifers over 500 pounds sold steady, lighter weights steady to $1 higher, slaughter cows and bulls steady, stock cows steady. Receipts totaled 578 head.

U.S. Meat Production 6% Above A Year Ago
Total red meat production under federal inspection last week was estimated at 887.3 million pounds, 1.3 percent less than a week earlier and six percent more than a year ago. Cumulative meat production for the year to date was up 3.3 percent at 26.1 billion pounds.

Coleman Feeder Steers, Heifers Steady To Up
Feeder steers and heifers under 500 pounds sold $1-2 higher, heavier weights steady, slaughter cows and bulls $1-2 lower, stock cows and pairs $10-20 higher. Receipts totaled 923 head.

U.S. June Pig Crop Two Percent Higher
The June 2002 U.S. pig crop report showed a two percent increase over the previous year at 8.66 million head. Sows farrowing in June were up one percent at 976,000 head. The average number of pigs per litter was 8.87 head compared with 8.85 last year.

Decatur Feeder Steers, Heifers Trade Higher
Feeder steers sold $1-3 higher, heifers steady to $1.50 higher, slaughter cows and bulls steady to $2 lower, stock cows and pairs steady. Receipts totaled 1236 head.

Junction Kids Mixed, Other Classes Steady
Most sheep and goats sold steady except lightweight kids $2-4 higher and heavyweights $1-2 lower. Receipts totaled 3721 head.

Lampasas Feeder Steer, Heifer Prices Higher
Feeder steers and heifers sold $1-3 higher, slaughter cows and bulls steady. Receipts totaled 877 head.

Cuero Feeder Steers, Heifers Trade Steady
Feeder steers and heifers sold steady, slaughter cows steady. Receipts totaled 1430 head.

Hamilton Lambs Hold, Kid Goats Lower
Lambs sold steady, ewes lower, kid goats lower, nannies steady. Receipts totaled 1787 head.

Abilene Feeder Steer, Heifer Prices Firm
Feeder steers and heifers sold steady to firm, slaughter cows and bulls $1-2 higher, stock cows and pairs $10-20 lower. Receipts totaled 701 head.

Milano Cattle Prices Steady, Trade Active
Feeder steers and heifers sold steady, slaughter cows and bulls steady. Receipts totaled 570 head.

Most Colorado City Cattle Sell Higher
Feeder steers and heifers sold steady to $1 higher with 400-500 pound heifers $4 higher, slaughter cows steady to $1 higher, bulls steady, stock cows $5 higher, pairs $40 higher. Receipts totaled 1341 head.

Llano Feeder Cattle Steady, Cows Lower
Feeder steers and heifers sold steady, slaughter cows and bulls $2 lower. Receipts totaled 382 head.

Angora Performance Test Sale Avg. $247
The annual Angora goat performance test sale at the Texas A&M Experiment Station near here offered 16 rams and nine head sold for a $247.22 average.

Most Mason, San Saba Cattle Prices Higher
Feeder steers and heifers sold steady to $4 higher last week in Mason and San Saba, the advance mostly on heavyweights, slaughter cows and bulls $1 higher. Receipts totaled 1985 head at the two sales.

Domestic, Aussie Wool Trade Near Standstill
Domestic wool trading was nearly at a standstill again last week. Demand was light to moderate for scant supplies.

TOM F. SPENCER was honored recently by friends as they presented him with a bronze sculpture by artist Shalah Perkins. R. C. Buckley made the presentation at a Superior Video sale recently saying that Spencer’s word and handshake were his contract.
