Cattle Prices Higher
Feeder steers and heifers sold steady to $4 higher last week in
Mason and San Saba, the advance mostly on heavyweights, slaughter cows
and bulls $1 higher. Receipts totaled 1985 head at the two sales.
Feeder steers: choice lightweight calves $100-114, mediumweight
$90-108, heavyweight $77-87, lightweight yearlings $75-85, heavyweight
$68-73; No. 2 calves and yearlings $70-77.
Feeder heifers: choice lightweight calves $88-110, mediumweight
$80-96, heavyweight $70-80.50, lightweight yearlings $65-75,
heavyweight $62-69; No. 2 calves and yearlings $65-75.
Slaughter cows: high yielding $38-43, medium yielding $35-39, low
yielding $32-35; high yielding bulls $52-58, medium yielding $49-53;
medium and good bred stock cows $550-830 per head; aged $475-525;
choice cows with calves $700-790 per pair, medium to good $750-83.
