Most Fat, Feeder Lambs Edge
Higher
Fat and feeder lambs were generally on the steady to firm
side around the country, Fredericksburg showing a $2-3 advance on
feeders and a $3-5 higher market on fats. Slaughter ewes were mostly
steady to firm with Midwest markets $1.50 lower.
Plains Fed Cattle Movement
Still To Be Seen At Midweek
Plains fed cattle trading had yet to develop at midweek, a
common refrain.
Texas Slaughter Kid Goats
Continue To Show Strength
Slaughter kid goats continued the price advance started last
week, though it is also a continuing up and down market.

Future Beef Operations has shut them again, probably for the last
time. FBO announced late last week that its status had changed from
Chapter 11 reorganization to Chapter 7 liquidation.

Prices Higher Fifth Consecutive Week
Feeder steers and heifers sold steady $2 higher last week,
making five consecutive weeks that the majority of the reported sales
were higher.

Weaker Supports Prompt Steady Prices
Slaughter cattle in the nation’s major feedlot trade area
remained steady last week, dressed sales steady to $1 higher. Despite
lighter showlists, some feedlots were discouraged by the lower CME
futures, higher grains, and lower beef prices and gave in to steady
money.

Feeder Cattle Firm
Feeder and slaughter lambs sold steady this week, slaughter
ewes firm; nanny goats and kids were firm. Receipts totaled 16,778
head, around 50 percent slaughter ewes, 20 percent feeder lambs, five
percent slaughter lambs 25 percent goats.

On Higher Trend
Feeder lambs sold $2-3 higher, slaughter lambs $3-5 higher
except lightweights steady, feeder kid goats $3-5 higher, slaughter
kids $5-7 higher. Receipts totaled 2944 head.
U.S. Meat Production 6.3%
Above A Year Ago
Total red meat production under federal inspection last week
was estimated at 903.4 million pounds, 1.8 percent more than a earlier
ago and 6.3 percent above a year ago. Cumulative meat production for
the year to date was up 3.4 percent at 27 billion pounds.

Cattle Higher
Feeder steers and heifers sold $1-3 higher last week in
Mason and San Saba, slaughter cows and bulls steady, bred stock cows
and pairs $20-30 higher. Receipts totaled 1206 head.
Most Lampasas Cattle Prices
Termed Lower
Feeder steers and heifers sold $1-2 lower, slaughter cows
and bulls $1-2 lower. Receipts totaled 931 head.
Goldthwaite Sheep, Goat
Prices Steady
Slaughter lambs sold steady, stock and slaughter goats
steady. Receipts totaled 1385 head.
Colorado City Feeder
Cattle Called Steady
Feeder steers and heifers sold steady, slaughter cows steady
to $1 lower, bulls $2 lower, stock cows $30 lower, pairs steady to $10
higher. Receipts totaled 583 head.
Milano Feeder Steer,
Heifer Prices Steady
Feeder steers and heifers sold steady, slaughter cows and
bulls $2-3 lower. Receipts totaled 749 head.
Fredericksburg Feeder
Cattle Trade Steady
Feeder steers and heifers sold about steady, slaughter cows
and bulls $1-2 lower. Receipts totaled 958 head.
Lightweight Abilene
Feeder Cattle Lower
Feeder steers and heifers under 500 pounds sold $2 lower,
heavier weights steady to firm, slaughter cows and bulls steady, stock
cows and pairs $20-30 higher. Receipts totaled 1011 head.
Llano Cattle Price Trends
Highly Mixed
Feeder steers over 600 pounds sold $2 higher, 500-600 pounds
steady, under 500 pounds $1-2 lower, heifer yearlings steady, calves
$2 lower, slaughter cows and bulls $2-3 lower. Receipts totaled 645
head.
Mason Replacement
Females 2065 Head
A total of 2065 female replacement cattle were offered in
special trading.
Domestic Wool Slow, New
Zealand Steady
Domestic wool trading was at a virtual standstill last week,
demand light for the seasonally light supplies. Only cleanup trade
remains. Australian markets will conduct their first sale of the
season in Sydney this week.
Most Junction Sheep, Goats
Strong, Kids Up
Most sheep and goats sold strong, kid goats $5-8 higher.
Receipts totaled 2933 head.
Decatur Feeder Steers,
Heifers Off A Little
Feeder steers and heifers sold steady to $2 lower, the
decline mainly on weights near 500 pounds, slaughter cows and bulls
steady, stock cows and pairs steady. Receipts totaled 1070 head.
Graham Feeder Steers,
Heifers Trade Higher
Feeder steers and heifers sold steady to $3 higher, the
greatest advance on weights under 500 pounds, slaughter cows and bulls
$1-2 lower, stock cows and pairs $15-25 higher. Receipts totaled 1191
head.
Hamilton Lambs, Kids
Higher, Others Steady
Lambs and kid goats sold higher, other sheep and goats
steady. Receipts totaled 2040 head.
Cuero Feeder Steer, Heifer
Prices Lower
Feeder steers and heifers sold steady to $2 lower, slaughter
cows and bulls $2 lower. Receipts totaled 1415 head.
San Saba Special Sale Up
On Weaned Feeders
Heavyweight feeder steers and heifers sold $2-4 higher in
the special premium weaned feeder sale, lightweights steady to $2
higher. Receipts totaled 1553 head.

Heifer Prices Steady
Feeder steers and heifers sold steady to firm, stock cows
and pairs steady. Receipts totaled 524 head.
