Choice gleanings from 45-plus years of Unregistered Bull
Biggest news along the cattle front these days is that feedlot operators are, believe it or not, making a little money.

Pokin' Fun
There's an old country western song with the catchy title of "Older Women Make Better Lovers." That may appeal to older women if you could ever find one. I tried to run a survey, but all I ever got in response to my initial question — "Are you an older woman?" was "Watch your mouth, buddy!"

Shortgrass Country
At the next convention of the American Association of Retired People, I am going to propose we adopt a secret handshake. Pulling my membership card from the crowded pockets in my billfold at busy airports and hotels to prove such an easy case is ridiculous. Just a slight variation of the Boy Scout's handshake would be enough to open the doorways of the world to AARP.

On The Edge Of Common Sense
Cattlemen have risen in protest of the NCAA’s (National Collegiate Athletic Assn.) decision to replace leather basketballs with pleather basketballs.

Its The Pitts
You can tell times are tough when economists, writers and Extension agents start writing articles on how you should pinch your pennies.

Garrett Anderson tends to stand out from the crowd. At six feet and seven inches tall, the soon-to-be freshman at Texas A&M University may be mistaken for a basketball recruit. But the "BB" in this young man's life will likely always stand for "Bobwhite Brigade." I believe his tenure at the Brigades will help him negotiate the full court presses of life. And I dare say he will confront his challengers with a Michael Jordan smile. Give him four or five years, and I'd hate to go one-on-one with him for a job.

The Computer& The Cowboy
One reader was concerned about learning how to use his camera with his computer. This is one area that has received a lot of attention from software companies in the last couple of years.

Teacher
…many are certified but few are qualified. After 23 years of formal education I can verify the veracity of that statement. In addition, I have attended too many workshops and seminars on subjects ranging from the equine to the ethical not to recognize a good teacher when I am graced by his or her gift. I guess in the many years of education I have received I have had fewer than 10 "qualified" teachers.
