Texas Slaughter Goat Prices
Find Uneven Trends This Week
Texas slaughter goats continued the recent stronger trends through
Monday with Junction around $2 higher and Hamilton $2-5 higher, but
Tuesday San Angelo lost around $5 and Fredericksburg held steady.
Exports of slaughter goats to Mexico came to 720 head last week,
bringing the year to date volume to 13,771 head, around 19 percent
fewer than a year ago.
There were 11,275 goats slaughtered under federal inspection around
the country last week.
Goat meat imports totaled 212 metric tons, or around 466,400 pounds
the week ending July 6, bringing the year to date volume to around
3836 metric tons.
Lometa quoted 35-45 pound slaughter kids $85-100, 50-70 pounds
$85-98 and 70-90 pounds $87-94. Nannies were $35-56 and billies
$70-79.
Goldthwaite kids of 15-40 pounds brought $80-92, 40-60 pounds
$87-91, 60-80 pounds $80-85, nannies 85-125 pounds $42-56, billies
90-200 pounds $69-73 and muttons 75-105 pounds $80-90.
Hamilton kids 20-40 pounds made $85-95, 40-65 pounds $85-94.50 and
over 65 pounds $84-91. Nannies moved for $39-75 and billies $66-73.
Junction slaughter kids 50-65 pounds brought $83-88, lightweights
$83-92, yearlings $65-80, nannies $47-55, a few lightweights $60-70,
billies $65-75 and muttons $88-92.
San Angelo kids weighing 40-80 pounds were $85-90, 80-105 pounds
$90-99, nannies 80-125 pounds $50-62, billies 100-150 pounds $67-71
and 150-250 pounds $68-71.50.
Fredericksburg kids 15-40 pounds made $84-94.50, 40-60 pounds
$85-92 and 60-80 pounds $81-92. Nannies 65-120 pounds were $41-58, a
few $63-67, billies 100-200 pounds $68-72 and muttons 80-130 pounds
$88-101.
Slaughter kids moving direct in West Texas brought $90-95 on 40-80
pounds.
