Fat, Feeder Lamb Prices About Steady
Slaughter and feeder lambs were fairly steady across the country this week, just a little weaker in San Angelo and firm in Fredericksburg, otherwise steady. Slaughter ewes were steady except in San Angelo, where they were about $2 lower.

Price Gulf Again Separates Plains Feedlots And Packers
Plains feedlots and packers stood dollars apart on price again at midweek, the former generally asking $64-65 and the latter bidding $61.

Texas Slaughter Goat Prices Find Uneven Trends This Week
Texas slaughter goats continued the recent stronger trends through Monday with Junction around $2 higher and Hamilton $2-5 higher, but Tuesday San Angelo lost around $5 and Fredericksburg held steady.

Demand was good for slaughter cattle in direct markets last week with active trade on Thursday. Slaughter steers and heifers sold $1 lower while dressed prices were steady. Packer margins are strong, resulting in another large kill week despite continued heavy weights.

Yearling Feeder Cattle Steady, Calves Stronger Across Country
Yearling feeder steers and heifers sold mostly steady around the country last week in the face of higher corn and a weak fat cattle market. However, many of these cattle remain in firm hands as the current market is below some breakeven levels. Yearling producer face the choice of taking their losses now or retaining ownership into the feedlot.

Feeder steers and heifers were weak Monday in the season’s fourth special feeder cattle sale at Producers Livestock Auction.

U.S. Meat Production 5.6% Above A Year Ago
Total red meat production under federal inspection last week was estimated at 893.1 million pounds, 1.1 percent less than a week earlier and 5.6 percent more than a year ago. Cumulative meat production for the year to date was up 3.5 percent at 27.9 billion pounds.

Kansas Direct Feeder Steer Prices Lower
Feeder steers sold weak to $1 lower last week in Kansas direct trade, heifers too few for a test. The weather was warm and dry. Sales were confirmed on 8846 head.

Junction Sheep Steady, Fat Goats Move Higher
Most sheep and goats sold steady, fat slaughter meat type nannies $3-7 higher, kids 3-5 lower, except lightweights steady to $2 higher. Receipts totaled 4254 head.

Graham Feeder Steer, Heifer Prices Lower
Feeder steers and heifers sold steady to $1.50 lower, slaughter cows and bulls steady to $1.50 lower, stock cows and pairs $10-20 lower. Receipts totaled 997 head.

Billings Sheep Prices Off $2-3
Compared to two weeks ago, feeder lambs were $2-3 lower, slaughter ewes steady under weaker demand. Receipts totaled 4082 head.

Goldthwaite Lambs, Goats Trade Steady
All classes of sheep and goats sold steady on receipts of 1687 head.

Producers Internet Offers 2100 Cattle
Producers Internet Auction offered 2100 feeder cattle from Florida, Georgia and Texas. Delivery was current through November.

Angelo Feeder Lambs, Cattle On Weak Side
Feeder lambs sold weak this week, slaughter lambs and slaughter ewes weak to $2 lower; nannies were weak, kids weak to $5 lower. Receipts totaled 14,093 head, around 45 percent slaughter ewes, 10 percent slaughter lambs, five percent feeder lambs and 40 percent goats.

Fredericksburg Sheep, Goat Prices Steady
Feeder and slaughter lambs sold steady to firm, stock and slaughter goats steady. Receipts totaled 3518 head.

Caprock Enters Top Fed Beef Carcass
The grand champion carcass in the Texas Cattle Feeders Association's Fed Beef Challenge was a heifer from the Caprock 6 Feedyard at Lockney, Texas.

Lometa Sheep, Goat Market Called Steady
All classes of sheep and goats sold steady on receipts of 1600 head.

Brownwood Heavyweight Feeder Cattle Lower
Heavyweight feeder steers and heifers sold $3 lower, others steady, slaughter cows and bulls $2 lower, stock cows and pairs steady. Receipts totaled 250 head.

Hamilton Feeder Steer, Heifer Prices Steady
Feeder steers and heifers sold steady, slaughter cows $3-7 higher, bulls steady, stock cows and pairs steady. Receipts totaled 513 head. Sheep sold steady Monday, kids $2-5 higher, nannies $2-4 higher. Receipts totaled 1709 head.

The 13th annual Ride-A-Thon benefit for Sonrisas therapeutic riding is scheduled for Saturday, October 5 on the XQZ ranch just southwest of here. The ride will begin at 9 a.m.

Domestic wool trading remains at a standstill. Demand was light for seasonally light supplies, as only cleanup trade remains.

Feeder steers and heifers under 500 pounds sold $2-3 higher, heavier weights steady, slaughter cows and bulls steady, stock cows and pairs steady. Receipts totaled 955 head.

Most Mason, San Saba Feeder Cattle Higher
Feeder steers and heifers sold steady to $2 higher last week in Mason and San Saba, slaughter cows and bulls steady, stock cows and pairs in good demand. Receipts totaled 3392 head at the two sales.

Fredericksburg Feeder Cattle Prices Higher
Feeder steers and heifers sold $1-2 higher, slaughter cows and bulls steady. Receipts totaled 1077 head.

Decatur Feeder Steer, Heifer Trends Higher
Feeder steers and heifers sold $1-3 higher, slaughter cows and bulls steady, stock cows and pairs steady to higher. Receipts totaled 1177 head.

Hill Country Angora Sale Tops At $750
The champion billy at the Hill Country Fair Association Angora buck and doe sale brought $750 per head. The billy was consigned by Larry Deike, Fredericksburg, and bought by Joey Freeman and Clint Smith Jr., Junction.

Colorado City Feeder Cattle Steady To Up
Feeder steers weighing less than 400 pounds sold $5 higher, heavier weights steady, feeder heifers steady to $1 higher, slaughter cows steady to $3 lower, bulls $1 higher, stock cows steady to $10 lower, pairs steady to $100 lower. Receipts totaled 704 head.

Most Coleman Cattle Prices Called Higher
Feeder steers and heifers sold steady to $1 higher, slaughter cows and bulls steady to firm, stock cows and pairs $10-20 higher. Receipts totaled 750 head.
