SHEEP NUMBERS continue to decline sharply in this country, an unbroken trend for the past 11 years. USDA figures indicate the overall sheep inventory is now one-fifth what it was 40 years ago. The most recent count offers some positive news, however, suggesting the rate of decline may have slowed in the last year.
