Fat, Feeder Lambs Mostly
Sell Steady
Most fat and feeder lambs were steady this week, a few
feeders on the weak side in San Angelo and some fats in the Midwest $3
off, but others about steady. Slaughter ewes were weak in San Angelo
and steady elsewhere.
Gulf Of $2-3 Separates
Plains Feedlots And Packers On Cattle
Plains feedlots and packers remained $2-3 apart on price at
midweek, the former asking mostly $64-65 against bids of $62.
Texas Slaughter Goats Find
Near Stable Prices This Week
Most markets quoted steady prices on kid goats this week.
Goldthwaite was $3-5 lower late last week and San Angelo lost a couple
of dollars Tuesday; others were mostly steady.

Feeder steers and heifers sold $1-2 higher last week in
active trading.
Angelo Feeder Lambs Weak,
Cattle Higher
Feeder lambs sold weak this week, slaughter lambs steady,
slaughter ewes weak to $1 lower; slaughter nannies were weak and kids
weak to $2 lower. Receipts totaled 13,437 head, around 50 percent
slaughter ewes, 10 percent slaughter lambs, five percent feeder lambs
and 35 percent goats.
Most Cuero Cattle Prices
Termed Higher
Feeder steers sold $2 higher, heifers $2-3 higher, slaughter
cows 50 cents to $1 higher, bulls $2 higher. Receipts totaled 1379
head.
Lampasas Feeder Steer,
Heifer Prices Steady
Feeder steers and heifers sold mostly steady, a few sales
$1-3 higher, slaughter cows and bulls $1-1.50 lower. Receipts totaled
991 head.
Kansas Direct Feeder
Cattle Prices Higher
Feeder steers and heifers sold steady to $1 higher in Kansas
direct trade last week. Scattered thunderstorms left traces to several
inches of rain in some localities. The area looks better, some green
spots showing up. Sales were confirmed on 21,845 head.
Abilene Feeder Steers
Strong, Heifers Weak
Feeder steers sold steady to $1 higher, the advance on
weights over 500 pounds, heifers steady to $2 lower, the decline on
weights under 500 pounds, slaughter cows and bulls $1-2 lower, stock
cows and pairs steady to firm. Receipts totaled 1108 head.
Milano Feeder Steer,
Heifer Prices Higher
Feeder steers sold $1-3 higher, instances $4 higher, heifers
$1-2 higher, slaughter cows and bulls steady. Receipts totaled 775
head.
Brownwood Feeder Cattle
Bulk Steady
Most feeder steers and heifers sold steady, except fleshy
steer calves $2 lower, slaughter cows and bulls steady, stock cows and
pairs steady. Receipts totaled 931 head.
Llano Feeder Steers,
Heifers Steady To Off
Feeder steers and heifers sold steady to $2 lower, slaughter
cows and bulls steady. Receipts totaled 277 head.
Hamilton Heifers Up,
Feeder Steers Steady
Feeder steers sold steady, heifers steady to higher,
slaughter cows and bulls steady, stock cows and pairs higher. Receipts
totaled 1213 head.
Goldthwaite Goats Find
Mixed Trading
Slaughter goats sold $3-5 lower, stock goats $3-5 higher.
Receipts totaled 1815 head.
Fredericksburg Feeder
Cattle Prices Mixed
Feeder steers sold steady, heifers $1-2 higher, slaughter
cows and bulls steady. Receipts totaled 1272 head.
Most Graham Cattle Prices
A Bit Softer
Feeder steers and heifers sold steady to $1.50 lower, the
decline on weights over 500 pounds, slaughter cows and bulls $1-2
lower, stock cows and pairs steady to firm. Receipts totaled 1152
head.

Cattle Prices Steady
Lightweight feeder steers and heifers sold steady to $1
lower last week, other classes of cattle steady. Receipts totaled 1824
head at the two sales.
U.S. Meat Production 4.5%
Above A Year Ago
Total red meat production under federal inspection last week
was estimated at 941.3 million pounds, 2.3 percent more than a week
earlier and 4.5 percent more than a year ago. Cumulative meat
production for the year to date was up 3.5 percent at 29.76 billion
pounds.
Domestic Wool Slow, Aussie Wools Lower
Domestic wool trading remained slow
across the country again last week. Demand was light for light
supplies.
July Beef, Pork, Red
Meat Set Record Highs
Commercial red meat production for the United States totaled 4.02
billion pounds in July, up 10 percent from the 3.64 billion pounds
produced in July 2001 and a new record high for July.
Producers Offers 1800
Cattle Over Internet
Producers Internet Auction offered 1800 feeder cattle
from Texas, Georgia, Alabama and Florida. Delivery was current to
November.

Called Mostly Steady
Most sheep and goats sold steady, meat type billies and
muttons $3-5 lower. Receipts totaled 4960 head.

Feeder steers sold steady, heifers mostly steady, slaughter
cows $2-3 higher, bulls steady, stock cows $10 higher. Receipts
totaled 676 head.
San Saba Replacement
Cattle Sell Strong
The special replacement female cattle sale at Jordan Cattle
Auction was strong on most classes of bred cows, heifers, pairs and
open heifers. Good demand was evident as cow numbers are down across
most of the United States. Receipts totaled 3066 head.
Coleman Feeder Cattle
Prices Steady To Firm
Feeder steers and heifers sold steady to firm, slaughter
cows and bulls steady, stock cows and pairs $10-20 lower. Receipts
totaled 658 head.

their Internet auction. Delivery was current to November.
