Feeder Lamb Prices Remain Mostly Steady
Feeder lambs were mostly steady in Texas and Midwest markets this week. Some direct trading areas were sharply higher with most of the supply already sold. Around 55,000 Western lambs moved into feedlots with retained ownership. Slaughter lambs were mostly steady, though some on Midwest markets were as much as $7 higher. Slaughter ewes were steady.

Plains Feedlot Trade Underway By Midweek, Gaining $2 At $66
Spurred by short-bought packers and improving fundamentals down the road, Plains feedlot trading broke the usual mold this week by kicking off on Wednesday at mostly $66. That is $2 above last week’s price, which finally jelled late Friday at $64.

Most Texas Slaughter Goat Prices Steady, Some Higher
For the most part this week, slaughter goat prices on Texas markets were fully steady. Some sales late last week in Goldthwaite were $3-5 higher and Hamilton on Monday was $1-4 higher.

Nation’s Feeder Cattle Prices Mostly Steady Labor Day Week
Feeder cattle and calf prices were largely steady over the midsection of the country last week. Eastern states recovered most of the previous week’s losses by selling calves at prices that were steady to $3 higher.

Angelo Sheep Steady, Feeder Cattle Higher
All sheep classes sold steady this week; kid goats were steady, nannies weak to $2 lower. Receipts totaled about 15,000 head, around 40 percent slaughter ewes, 25 percent feeder lambs, five percent slaughter lambs and 30 percent goats.

U.S. Meat Production 4.5% Above A Year Ago
Total red meat production under federal inspection during last week’s holiday-shortened period was estimated at 851.1 million pounds, 10.5 percent less the previous week and 4.5 percent more than a year ago. Cumulative meat production for the year to date was up 3.6 percent at 31.56 billion pounds.

Llano Special Cow Sale Finds Active Bidding
The 43rd annual September special cow sale found active bidding. Receipts totaled 1285 head of mostly black offerings.

Lampasas Feeder Steer, Heifer Prices Steady
Feeder steers and heifers sold steady, slaughter cows steady, bulls 50 cents to $1 higher. Receipts totaled 610 head.

Abilene Feeder Steer, Heifer Prices Higher
Feeder steers and heifers sold $1-2 higher, slaughter cows and bulls $1-2 lower, stock cows and pairs $10-20 lower. Receipts totaled 1115 head.

Most Hamilton Feeder Cattle, Lambs Steady
All cattle prices were steady on receipts of 513 head. Kid goats sold $1-4 higher Monday, other sheep and goats sold steady. Receipts totaled 1432 head.

Goldthwaite Lambs Steady, Goats Rise
Slaughter lambs sold steady, stock goats $5-7 higher, slaughter goats $3-5 higher. Receipts totaled 1527 head.

Boxed Beef Values Up $2.87 Last Week
USDA’s new National Comprehensive Boxed Beef Cutout report on all fed steer and heifer sales for last week showed the weekly cutout value up $2.85 to $104.79.

Fredericksburg Sheep, Goat Prices Steady
All sheep and goat prices were steady on receipts of 3167 head.

Billings Lightweight Feeder Lambs Higher
Feeder lambs under 80 pounds sold $3 higher than two weeks ago, instances $6 higher, heavier weights $1 lower early, closing $2-3 higher, slaughter ewes $2 lower. Receipts totaled 3536 head.

Decatur Feeder Cattle Prices Called Higher
Feeder steers and heifers sold $1-3 higher, slaughter cows and bulls $1-2 lower. Receipts totaled 1438 head.

Colorado City Feeder Steer Prices Steady
Feeder steers sold steady, heifers steady to $1 higher, slaughter cows and bulls steady to $1 higher, stock cows $40-70 higher, pairs $30 lower. Receipts totaled 913 head.

Llano Feeder Steers, Heifers Trend Lower
Feeder steers and heifers sold $2-3 lower except steers over 650 pounds steady, slaughter cows and bulls about steady. Receipts totaled 352 head.

Kansas Direct Feeder Steer Prices Higher
Feeder steers sold $1 higher in a limited test of medium and large No. 1 classes, similar quality heifers too few for an adequate test. The weather was mostly warm and dry. Some forage feed and wheat has been planted. Sales were confirmed on 5118 head.

Coleman Feeder Steer, Heifer Prices Firm
Feeder steers and heifers sold steady to firm, slaughter cows and bulls $2-3 lower, stock cows and pairs steady to firm. Receipts totaled 772 head.

Domestic Wool Trading Slow, Aussie Prices Increase Some
Wool trading remained slow around the country last week, at a standstill in many areas. Trading was light on short supplies, export interest moderate to good.

Junction Sheep, Goat Prices Mostly Lower
Most sheep and goats sold a little lower except kids steady. Receipts totaled 4695 head.

Cuero Feeder Cattle Prices Termed Mixed
Feeder steers and heifers were mostly lower, except 500-550 pound steers and lightweights higher, slaughter cows $2 lower, bulls $3 lower. Receipts totaled 2707 head.

Fredericksburg Feeder Steers, Heifers Higher
Feeder steers sold $1 higher, heifers $2-3 higher, slaughter cows and bulls $2 lower. Receipts totaled 1766 head.

Most Milano Cattle Prices Said Steady
Feeder steers and heifers sold steady, slaughter cows steady to firm, bulls steady. Receipts totaled 1368 head.

Mason, San Saba Steers Strong, Heifers Higher
Feeder steers sold strong last week in Mason and San Saba, heifers steady to $2 higher, slaughter cows and bulls $3-5 lower, stock cows steady. Receipts totaled 1166 head at the two sales.
