Texas Slaughter Goat Prices
Sharply Higher For The Week
Slaughter meat type kid goats found sharply higher prices for the
second week in a row.
There were 11,874 goats slaughtered around the country under
federal inspection the week ending September 21.
Slaughter goat exports to Mexico last week totaled 1235 head.
Goat meat imports the week ending August 24 were 73 metric tons or
around 160,600 pounds; the week ending August 31 the total was 107
metric tons or around 235,400 pounds.
Lometa quoted 35-45 pound meat type slaughter kids $85-97, 50-70
pounds $85-91 and 70-90 pounds $80-88. Nannies were $38-44 and billies
$68-76.
Goldthwaite kids weighing 15-40 pounds brought $82-96, 40-60 pounds
$80-86, 60-80 pounds $75-84; muttons 80-100 pounds were $72-79,
nannies 80-130 pounds $32.50-42, andbillies 90-175 pounds $60-67.
Hamilton kids were $2-4 higher with 20-40 pounds $83-91, 40-70
pounds $84-95.50, over 70 pounds $76-89. Nannies brought $32-36 and
billies $65-73.
Junction kids sold $6-10 higher at $85-94, small kids $90-116,
yearlings $65-80, muttons $80-90, nannies $40-50 and billies $65-75.
San Angelo was $2-5 higher, kids 30-40 pounds bringing $100-108, a
few $111, 40-60 pounds $82-91, a few $100-105, 60-80 pounds $82-90,
90-105 pounds $81-95; nannies 80-125 pounds were $40-48.50, a few $50,
and billies 80-100 pounds $74-76, 100-150 pounds $66-76, and 150-250
pounds $60-67.
Fredericksburg kids were $8-10 higher with 15-40 pounds $90-127,
40-60 pounds $90-100, and 60-80 pounds $89-95; muttons 80-100 pounds
were $82-86, nannies 80-135 pounds $32-42, a few $45-50, and billies
90-200 pounds $68-74.
