Fat, Feeder Lambs Higher,
Meat Steady
Texas markets had feeder lambs $2-6 higher this week and fat
lambs $5-12 higher. Midwest markets were steady on feeders and steady
to $1 lower on fats. Dressed lamb was mostly unchanged.
Fed Cattle Bids Seen At
$66, But Feeders Holding For $68
Last week’s fed cattle trade stalled out with $64 bids and
an asking range of $66 or better; this week packers appear to have
ante’d up but the asking price moved up as well.
Texas Slaughter Goats Find
Hot Market Again This Week
Slaughter goats found good going this week at most Texas
markets. Price advances of $4-10 were the norm.

Title At Waco Fair, Rodeo
Six-time world champion calf roper Fred Whitfield, Hockley,
Texas, won the calf roping average title at the recent Heart O' Texas
Fair & Rodeo in Waco. He won the title with a time of 26.2 seconds
on three head and collected $4058 to recapture the lead in the Jack
Daniel's World Standings. Whitfield leads Blair Burk of Durant, Okla.,
by $2384.

Prospects Vary From Region To Region
Quail hunting prospects this year are pretty much hit or
miss depending where you aim to hunt, says the Texas Parks and
Wildlife Department.

Last Week As Boxed Beef Declined
Fed cattle trade in direct trading last week was light
through Friday morning, the bulk of scant sales in the north. A few
live sales were steady, dressed prices $1-2 lower.

Steady In Up, Down Trading Last Week
Feeder steers and heifers ended last week mostly steady.
Early-week trading was slightly higher, but the market took back most
of the advance by week’s end as the cash fat cattle market failed to
materialize and provide the spark that many had expected.

Sale Offering Totals 24,000 Cattle
Superior Livestock Auction offered more than 24,000 feeder
cattle and bred cows from 22 states in their regularly scheduled video
auction.
Angelo Sheep, Goats
Higher, Cattle Steady
Feeder lambs sold $2-6 higher this week, slaughter lambs
firm to $2 higher, slaughter ewes firm to $3 higher, instances $4-5
higher; nanny goats were $5 higher and kids $2-5 higher. Two day
receipts totaled 11,292 head, around 40 percent slaughter ewes, 15
percent slaughter lambs, 10 percent feeder lambs and 35 percent goats.
U.S. Meat Production 2.4%
Above A Year Ago
Total red meat production under federal inspection last week
was estimated at 937.1 million pounds, 2.1 percent more than a week
earlier and 2.4 percent more than a year ago. Cumulative meat
production for the year to date was up 3.4 percent at 36.2 billion
pounds.

Called Higher
Feeder steers and heifers sold $1-2 higher, slaughter cows
and bulls steady to $1 higher. Receipts totaled 573 head.

Heifers Steady To Up
Feeder steers and heifers sold steady to higher, slaughter
cows $1-3 higher. Receipts totaled 1604 head.
Fredericksburg Cattle
Prices Deemed Higher
Feeder steers sold $1-2 higher, heifers $2-3 higher,
slaughter cows and bulls $2-3 higher. Receipts totaled 426 head.
Domestic Wool Active,
Aussie Wools Decline
U.S. wool bids have increased dramatically the past few
weeks as a result of limited supplies, increased demand and higher
prices for foreign wools. Demand was good for the limited supplies.
The undertone was higher on all classes, but no recent comparison was
available.
Angelo Female Sale
Offers 2200 Cattle
Producers Livestock Auction offered 2200 stock cattle at
their annual select replacement sale. All female cattle were bled,
pregnancy tested and mouthed for age.
Producers Offers 2100
Feeders On Internet
Producers Internet Auction offered 2100 feeder cattle in
their regular sale. Consignments were from Florida, Mississippi and
Texas, delivery current through December.
Colorado City Feeder
Cattle Prices Higher
Feeder steers sold mostly steady except 500-700 pounds $1-2
higher, heifers steady to $2 higher, slaughter cows $2-3 higher, bulls
steady. Receipts totaled 390 head.
Junction Kid Goats Up,
Others Steady
Kid goats sold $5-10 higher, other sheep and goat classes
steady. Receipts totaled 1860 head.
Goldthwaite Fat Lambs Move
Higher
Not enough feeder lambs for a test, heavy slaughter lambs
$10-12 higher; stock goats $5-7 higher, slaughter goats $8-10 higher.
Receipts totaled 1466 head.
Hamilton Lightweight
Feeder Cattle Higher
Feeder steer and heifer calves sold higher, yearlings
steady, slaughter cows and bulls higher. Receipts totaled 575 head. On
Tuesday lambs sold $4-10 higher, ewes steady, kids $4-8 higher and
nannies $3-6 higher. Receipts totaled 1635 head.
Boxed Beef Values Down
$3.83 For Week
The national boxed beef cutout report on all fed steers and
heifers last week showed a decline of $3.83 to $104.79.
Most Decatur Cattle
Prices Called Steady
Feeder steers and heifers sold steady, slaughter cows and
bulls steady to slightly lower, stock cows and pairs steady. Receipts
totaled 239 head.
Llano Feeder Steer, Heifer
Prices Higher
Feeder steers and heifers under 600 pounds sold $2-4 higher,
heavier weights steady, slaughter cows and bulls steady to $2 lower.
Receipts totaled 417 head.
Fredericksburg Lambs
Higher, Goats Firm
Feeder lambs sold $3-5 higher, slaughter lambs $5-10 higher;
slaughter goats were steady to firm. Receipts totaled 2083 head.
Billings Sheep, Lambs
Find Higher Trends
Feeder lambs sold $2-6 higher, the full advance on lambs
under 100 pounds, slaughter ewes $3 higher. Receipts totaled 2033
head.
Abilene Feeder Cattle
Prices Termed Higher
Feeder steers and heifers sold $1-2 higher, slaughter cows
and bulls steady, stock cows and pairs $10-20 higher. Receipts totaled
1210 head.
Milano Feeder Steers,
Heifers Trade Higher
Feeder steers sold $1-3 higher, some $4 up, heifers steady
to $1 higher, slaughter cows and bulls $1-2 lower. Receipts totaled
816 head.
