Ken White and Ernest Knott of Clovis have bought 120 steer yearlings from Herb Price of Clovis at 23 cents per pound.

Bill Christmas, Portales, New Mexico, sold 60 good age cows recently at $150 per head; they went to the Las Vegas area.

Brooks and Williams of Clovis sold 250 mixed yearlings to Carl Kemp of Dimmitt, Texas, on Northern order at 20 and 23 cents for heifers and steers, respectively; the heifers weighed 650 pounds, the steers 670.

Hal Bogle of Dexter, New Mexico, is reported to have bought the Wade Corn lambs at Roswell, around 2100 head, at 18 cents per pound, and the Kim Yoder lambs, around 700 head, at 18½ cents.

Buster Frier, Lovington, New Mexico, reportedly sold 200 steer calves to Ray Barber with Singer-Brummett Cattle Company of Amarillo at 25 cents per pound.

In the annual stocker and feeder sale held by the San Carlos Indians in Arizona a few days ago, heifer yearlings averaged $17.75, steer yearlings $23, and bred heifers and young cows $124 per head, according to a report from that state this week. These cattle are considered among tops in Arizona.

Sheep prices were weaker Wednesday at Producers Livestock Auction in San Angelo, where receipts totaled 3724 head. Packer bucks sold at $3.75 to $4.25 cwt., packer ewes $3 to $4, stocker lambs $10 to $14.50, yearling muttons $6 to $10. Solidmouth ewes brought $4 to $6 per head.

Rue Wharton of Dalhart bought 200 mixed yearlings at $18.50 for the heifers, to be delivered Dec. 1, and $20 for the steers, Nov. 1 delivery, from Lolan Higgins of Dalhart. The heifers are expected to weigh about 750, the steers 825 pounds.

Lee Hammond & Sons of Clovis sold, to L.O. Hudson of Melrose, N.M., 166 choice to fancy Hereford steer calves weighing 445 pounds at $27 and delivered them last week.

Ed McLeish of Dighton, Kan., bought 120 steer yearlings weighing about 850 pounds at $19 for Nov. 1 delivery from Max Stanley, Dighton.

C.A. Fort of Lovington, N.M., sold 350 good and choice steer yearlings weighing 800 pounds at $22, delivered last week to Al Silverman of Deep River, Iowa.

Foster Pickett of Amarillo has bought 500 feeder steers expected to weigh close to 875 pounds at $19.50 for Nov. 1 delivery off the Green Cattle Co. ranch near Vega, Texas.

Sunnyside Farms of Dimmitt, Texas, bought 400 good Okie type short yearling steers weighing 460 pounds at $25.25 and received them recently from A.J. Kemp, Dimmitt, of Texas Livestock Marketing Assn., Fort Worth.

Lloyd Coake, Dodge City, Kan., bought 165 feeder steers weighing about 700 pounds at $24.50 and received them last week from Arthur Reynolds, Sayre, Okla. Coake also bought two loads of fed heifers expected to weigh near 800 pounds at $26 for delivery this week from Bill and Bob Lacy of Clinton.

Leonard Freis, Amarillo, bought three loads of fed steers weighing about 1000 pounds at $26 f.o.b. lots from Kenneth Wells of Kerrick, Texas, for delivery this week.

Wool and mohair trade was reported quiet this week. Last week, 250,000 pounds of fall hair sold at Sonora at 71½ cents for adult and $1.41½ for 50,000 pounds of kid.

R.E. Albers & Son of Abernathy, Texas, sold off their ranch near Grants, N.M., 300 steer yearlings weighing 638 pounds at $24, no cut or shrink, and delivered them recently to an Amarillo buyer.

Wool Growers Central Storage in San Angelo sold about 40,000 pounds of spring and fall adult mohair at 32 cents per pound.

Dean Cluck Feed Yards at Gruver sold 196 steers weighing 1160 pounds and grading 80% choice at $26.20 to a Kansas packer.

Shorn fat lambs with good pelts were moving from West Texas and New Mexico feedlots at $22-23 and the few fat range lambs in the wool at $21.50-22 in direct trade. Fat clipped lambs weighing 85-105 pounds brought $22-22.70 at Producers Livestock Auction in San Angelo.

Tulia Feedlot, Tulia, sold 200 steers weighing 1075 and grading 70% choice at $26.25 and 135 steers weighing 1100 and grading 70% choice at $26 to Texas packers.

Cattle and calves on feed for slaughter Oct. 1 in 23 major feeding states totaled 9,777,000 head. That was five percent more than a year ago but 19 percent less than the record 1973 number for this date.

The Texas adult mohair market has suddenly become active. One of the first big sales was the Producers Wool and Mohair Co. accumulation in Del Rio, about 365,000 pounds of adult hair at $1.70. Del Rio Wool and Mohair sold about 75,000 pounds at the same price.

Swift Independent Packing Co. announced that it has bought the San Angelo plant of Texas Lamb Co. and will move its entire lamb processing operation from Brownwood to San Angelo.

Orville Malmstrom, Pie Town, N.M., sold to a New Mexico buyer 550 good mixed breed heifer yearlings weighing 650 at $60.

Bud Eppers, Roswell, sold to an Amarillo buyer 125 black baldface heifer and steer yearlings weighing 617 and 649 pounds at $58 and $63.

James Gibson and Catlin Newman, Elida, N.M., sold to a Clovis, N.M. buyer 80 mixed breed steers weighing 850-950 pounds at $63.

Jay Tulk, Maljamar, N.M., sold to a Seminole, Texas buyer 130 mixed breed heifer and steer calves weighing 421 and 488 pounds at $60 and $68.10.

Ozona Wool and Mohair Co. sold 50,000 pounds of yearling mohair in three lines. Prices were $5 a grease pound for superfine graded yearling, $3.85 for No. 1 yearling and $3.50 for No. 2 yearling.

Texas Livestock Marketing Assn., Fort Worth, sold in their video auction from the Pilot Point area 115 Okie and crossbred heifer calves weighing 425 pounds at $84.50, also 180 cutter cows weighing 1000 at $45.

Bill Porter, Bowling Green, Ky., bought in Oklahoma 900 No. 1 feeder steers weighing about 800 pounds. He sold 700 No. 1½ steers with just a touch of ear, completely preconditioned, weighing 450 at $93.55 delivered to Oklahoma.

Total red meat production under federal inspection last week was estimated at 866.6 million pounds, up five percent from a week earlier and 6.6 percent more than a year ago.

Superior Livestock Auction, Fort worth, offered more than 20,000 calves, feeder cattle and breeding stock in their regular video sale. Consignments were from 25 states.

Vann-Roach Cattle Co., Fort Worth, bought in the Texas Panhandle for November delivery two loads of No. 1 Okie steers to weigh 750 pounds at $77, also three loads of No. 1 Okie and exotic heifers to weigh 700 at $73; for current delivery two loads of No. 1 Okie steers weighing 800 at $74.50 and five loads of No. 1 Okie and exotic heifers weighing 725 at $70.
