Texas Slaughter Goat Prices
Mixed Bag Of Ups And Downs
Price trends were a real up and down situation on slaughter goats
this week. Some markets showed advances of $5, catching up on the
previous week’s higher prices, while others were as much as $5
lower, correcting a too-high trend.
There were 11,407 goats slaughtered under federal inspection around
the country the week ending October 12.
Slaughter goat exports to Mexico last week totaled 2904 head.
In Lometa 35-45 pound meat type kids brought $95-112, 50-70 pounds
$95-107, and 70-90 pounds $95-101; nannies were $45-58 and billies
$68-78.
Goldthwaite quoted 15-40 pound kids $90-109, 40-60 pounds $87-94
and 60-80 pounds $85-93.50. Nannies 70-150 pounds made $42-50, billies
90-210 pounds $74.50-75 and muttons 80-110 pounds $75-83.
Hamilton saw 40-70 pound kids earn $86-101 and over 70 pounds
$80-94; nannies were $50-62 and billies $62-72.
Junction kids brought $90-98, lightweights $108-118 and yearlings
$65-80. Nannies made $45-55, billies $65-75 and muttons $82-90.
In San Angelo kids 50-60 pounds were $85-95, a few $96-101 and
60-80 pounds $85-93. Nannies 80-125 pounds made $47-57, billies
100-150 pounds $65-77.50 and 150-250 pounds $65-74.
Fredericksburg kids 15-40 pounds brought $100-123, 40-60 pounds
$95-106, 60-80 pounds $90-97, nannies 80-130 pounds $39-50, billies
100-180 pounds $70-76, and muttons 85-120 pounds $85-95.
Kids 40-80 pounds moved direct in West Texas at $88-92.
