Feeder, Fat Lambs, Meat Prices Mixed
Lamb prices were mixed this week, feeder lambs up and down in Texas and lower in the Midwest markets, fats higher in Texas and lower in the Midwest. Dressed lamb quotations on the Central U.S. report were practically all the same while the averages were slightly erratic.

Plains Fed Cattle Entities Apart By Dollars At Midweek
Plains feedlots and packers were in different hemispheres pricewise at midweek. Bids of $66 ran up against asking prices of $69-70.

Texas Slaughter Goat Prices Mixed Bag Of Ups And Downs
Price trends were a real up and down situation on slaughter goats this week. Some markets showed advances of $5, catching up on the previous week’s higher prices, while others were as much as $5 lower, correcting a too-high trend.

Feeder lambs sold weak to $2 lower this week, slaughter lambs firm to $1 higher, slaughter ewes firm to $2 higher; nanny goats were steady, kids weak to $3 lower. Receipts totaled 7007 head, around 35 percent slaughter ewes, 10 percent feeder lambs, 10 percent slaughter lambs and 45 percent goats.

Kansas Direct Feeder Cattle Prices Higher
Feeder steers under 700 pounds were weak, heavier weights firm to $1 higher, heifers firm to $2 higher. The weather was cold and wet with accumulations from traces to one inch. Sales were confirmed on 7084 head.

Fredericksburg Lambs Mixed, Goats Firm
Feeder lambs were too few for a price test, slaughter lambs steady except lightweights $8-10 higher; slaughter goats were steady to firm, others scarce. Receipts totaled 2474 head.

Milano Feeder Cattle Sell Steady To Firm
Feeder steers and heifers sold steady to firm, slaughter cows $1-2 lower, bulls steady. Receipts totaled 928 head.

Most Llano Cattle Prices Called Steady
Feeder steers and heifers were mostly steady, slaughter cows and bulls under pressure. Receipts totaled 356 head.

Lighter Brownwood Feeder Cattle Higher
Feeder steers and heifers sold $3-5 higher, the advance on weights under 600 pounds, slaughter cows and bulls steady, stock cows and pairs steady. Receipts totaled 316 head.

Abilene Cattle Prices Termed Mostly Steady
Feeder steers and heifers sold fully steady, slaughter cows and bulls steady, stock cows and pairs steady. Receipts totaled 485 head.

San Saba Offers 1785 Cows At Special Sale
Demand was termed strong on choice cow-calf pairs and better grading bred heifers at Jordan Cattle Auction’s special replacement sale, "excellent" on bred cows of all classes and open heifers. Receipts totaled 1785 head.

Mason, San Saba Steers Steady, Heifers Higher
Feeder steers sold steady last week in Mason and San Saba, heifers $1-2 higher, slaughter cows and bulls steady, stock cows and pairs in good demand. Receipts totaled 1308 head at the two sales.

September Pork Output Monthly Record High
Commercial red meat production for the United States totaled 3.87 billion pounds in September, up six percent from the 3.67 billion pounds produced in September 2001.

Producers Internet Auction offered 3300 feeder cattle in their regularly scheduled sale. Consignments were from Alabama, Mississippi and Florida, delivery current to December.

Feeder steer yearlings sold steady, calves higher, heifer yearlings higher, calves steady, slaughter cows $3-5 higher, bulls steady, stock cows and pairs steady. Receipts totaled 397 head.

Decatur Feeder Steer, Heifer Trends Higher
Feeder steers and heifers sold $1-2 higher, plain kinds off $1-2, slaughter cows and bulls $1-2 lower, stock cows and pairs steady. Receipts totaled 1081 head.

Most Coleman Cattle Prices Termed Steady
Feeder steers and heifers sold steady to firm, slaughter cows and bulls steady, stock cows and pairs steady. Receipts totaled 358 head.

Colorado City Feeder Cattle Prices Higher
Feeder steers sold $2-10 higher, the full advance on weights under 500 pounds, heifers $1-1.50 higher, slaughter cows steady to $1 lower, bulls steady, stock cows $30-50 higher, pairs steady. Receipts totaled 779 head.

Junction Lambs Higher, Meat Type Goats Lower
Lambs sold $4-8 higher, slaughter ewes steady; meat type slaughter kids and nannies $3-5 lower, billies steady, Angoras steady. Receipts totaled 2061 head.

Billings Feeder Lambs Trade Mostly Steady
Feeder lambs sold mostly steady, slaughter lambs rather steady. Receipts totaled 1400 head.

Boxed Beef Values Up $1.85 Last Week
The national boxed beef cutout value of all fed steers and heifers sold last week showed an increase of $1.85 at $108.93.

U.S. Meat Production 2.6% About A Year Ago
Total red meat production under federal inspection last week was estimated at 958.9 million pounds, 1.1 percent more than a week earlier and 2.6 percent more than a year ago. Cumulative meat production for the year to date was up 3.3 percent at 38.1 billion pounds.
