Fat, Feeder Lambs, Lamb Meat Lower
Lower was the key word for sheep this week. Fat lambs were steady to $5 lower on Texas markets and $2-5 lower on Midwest markets. Feeder lambs were generally steady to $5 lower and slaughter ewes steady to $4 lower. The dressed trade was weak to $5 lower.

Slaughter cattle prices are falling as fast as recent advances. Last week’s trade was another $3 lower live, dressed sales $3-5 lower.

Angelo Sheep Prices Lower, Cattle Higher
Feeder lambs sold weak to $3 lower this week, slaughter lambs weak to $5 lower, slaughter ewes weak to $2 lower; slaughter kid goats were weak and nannies firm. Two day receipts totaled 11,601 head, around 20 percent slaughter ewes, 20 percent feeder lambs, five percent feeder lambs and 55 percent goats.

U.S. Meat Production .6% Below A Year Ago
Total red meat production under federal inspection last week was estimated at 913.3 million pounds, 2.7 percent less than a week earlier and .6 percent less than a year ago. Cumulative meat production for the year to date was down .3 percent at 21.7 billion pounds.

Milano Feeder Steer, Heifer Trade Higher
Feeder steers were steady to $2 higher, the advance on weights under 600 pounds, heifers steady to $2 higher, slaughter cows and bulls $1-2 higher. Receipts totaled 1029 head.

Llano Feeder Steers, Heifers Fully Steady
Feeder steers and heifers sold fully steady, slaughter cows and bulls $2-4 higher. Receipts totaled 663 head.

Hamilton Sheep Steady, Kids Mixed, Cattle Up
Lambs and ewes sold steady Monday, kid goats higher and nannies steady. Receipts totaled 2341 head. All cattle classes sold higher Tuesday on receipts of 739 head.

Abilene Feeder Steer, Heifer Trends Lower
Feeder steers and heifers sold steady to $1 lower, the decline on weights under 500 pounds, slaughter cows and bulls $3-5 higher, stock cows and pairs $10-15 higher.

Brownwood Steady, $2 Off On Feeder Cattle
Feeder steers and heifers sold steady to $2 lower, slaughter cows $2 higher, bulls $2-4 higher, stock cows and pairs steady. Receipts totaled 448 head.

Most Fredericksburg Lambs, Goats Steady
Feeder lambs sold steady, slaughter lambs steady to firm, lightweights $3-5 higher, slaughter kids and nannies steady to firm, feeder goats $3-5 higher. Receipts totaled 3628 head.

Producers Internet Offers 9100 Cattle
Producers Internet Auction offered 9100 feeder cattle from Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas. Delivery was current through November.

Colorado City Feeder Cattle Prices Higher
Feeder steers and heifers sold $2-3 higher, slaughter cows $1-3 higher, bulls steady to $2 higher, cows with calves steady to $2 higher.

Feeder steers and heifers sold steady to $2 higher, the advance on weights under 600 pounds, slaughter cows and bulls $1-2 higher, stock cows and pairs steady. Receipts totaled 1023 head.

Most Cuero Cattle Prices Called Higher
Feeder steers and heifers sold $2-4 higher, slaughter cows and bulls $2-4 higher. Receipts totaled 1103 head.

Most Decatur Cattle Prices Called Higher
Feeder steers and heifers sold $1-3 higher, slaughter cows and bulls $1-3 higher, stock cows and pairs steady. Receipts totaled 1867 head.

Fredericksburg Feeder Heifer Prices Higher
Feeder steers sold strong, heifers $1-2 higher, slaughter cows and bulls $2-3 higher. Receipts totaled 928 head.

Most Lampasas Cattle Prices Trend Higher
Feeder steers and heifers sold steady to $2 higher, slaughter cows $2-2.50 higher, bulls $2-3 higher. Receipts totaled 627 head.

May Beef Production Sets Volume Record
Commercial red meat production for the United States totaled 3.94 billion pounds in May, down two percent from the 4.02 billion pounds produced in May 2002.

Red Meat Storage Supplies Off 7%
Total red meat supplies in freezers on May 31 were seven percent below a year ago at 908.4 million pounds. Frozen beef supplies were off three percent at 388.07 million pounds, pork down nine percent at 500.8 million pounds, veal up 45 percent at 5.4 million pounds, and lamb and mutton off 32 percent at 5.9 million pounds.

Slaughter lambs sold steady, feeder and slaughter goats steady to firm. Receipts totaled 2021 head.

Boxed Beef Values Show Sharp Decline
The national comprehensive boxed beef cutout report on all fed steers and heifers sold last week dropped $5.40 to $129.15, the lowest value in six weeks.

Mason, San Saba Feeder Steers, Heifers Strong
Feeder steers and heifers sold steady to strong last week in Mason and San Saba, slaughter cows and bulls $1-3 higher, stock cows and pairs $15-25 higher. Receipts at the two sales totaled 1081 head.
