U.S. Meat Production 6.3% Below A Year Ago
Total red meat production under federal inspection last week was estimated at 887.6 million pounds, .6 percent less than a week earlier and 6.3 percent less than a year ago. Cumulative meat production for the year to date was down .6 percent at 36.04 billion pounds.

Feeder steers and heifers sold $2-10 higher, slaughter cows $3-8 higher, bulls $4-6 higher. Receipts totaled 813 head.

Brownwood Feeder Steer, Heifer Prices Steady
Feeder steers and heifers sold steady, slaughter cows and bulls $2-4 higher, stock cows and pairs $25 higher. Receipts totaled 460 head.

Billings Lightweight Feeder Lambs Higher
Lightweight feeder lambs sold $5-8 higher, 70-90 pounds $2-4 higher, weights over 90 pounds mostly steady, slaughter ewes steady to $2 higher. Receipts totaled 2936 head.

Abilene Cattle Prices On Much Higher Trend
Feeder steers and heifers sold $2-3 higher, slaughter cows and bulls $3-5 higher, stock cows and pairs $10-20 higher. Receipts totaled 1471 head.
