Boxed Beef Values
Take Deep Plunge

DES MOINES —(USDA)— The national comprehensive boxed beef cutout report on all fed steers and heifers sold last week fell off $15.06 from the previous week’s record high level to $157.22.

There were 44 loads of Prime at an average price of $189.22, 331 loads branded at $181.14, 1415 loads Choice at $167.44, 1706 loads Select at $147.02, and 1973 loads ungraded at $144.84.

The average price on ribs was $259.91, chucks $115.71, rounds $136.96, loins $226.16, briskets $92.31, short plates $105 and flanks $100.10.

There was a total of 5468 loads, including 4856 domestic and 612 exports with 2791 loads negotiated for delivery within 21 days, 606 loads negotiated for delivery for over 21 days, 1876 loads formula contracts and 196 loads of forward contracts.
