Lightweight Lambs Move To Slaughter
Feeder lambs remain in short supply throughout the country, and that shortage was enhanced the last couple of weeks by a considerable number of feeder weight lambs moving direct to slaughter channels.

Plains Fed Cattle Bids Vague, But Not Up To Asking Prices
Plains cattle feeders were asking $105-108 at presstime against vague bids ranging from $100 to $104. Last week’s trade opened at $102 and ended at $105.

Texas Slaughter Meat Type Goat Prices Mostly Steady This Week
Meat type slaughter goats found a fairly reliable market this week in most areas. Goldthwaite on Friday was $5-7 lower and on Tuesday Fredericksburg was steady to firm; steady prices ruled elsewhere.

Slaughter steers and heifers sold $2 to mostly $3 higher across the country last week, dressed sales $6 higher.

Angelo Lambs Steady, Feeder Cattle Higher
Feeder lambs sold steady in a light test this week, slaughter lambs steady, slaughter ewes $7-10 higher; nannies and kids were steady. Trading was active and demand good. Receipts totaled 5899 head, around 15 percent slaughter ewes, 15 percent slaughter lambs, five percent feeder lambs and 65 percent goats.

Superior Livestock Video Sale Offering Totals 34,500 Cattle
Superior Livestock Auction offered more than 34,500 feeder calves, yearlings and stock cows in their regularly scheduled sale. Yearling steers sold $2-4 higher, heifers $3-7 higher, calves steady. Demand was termed good and trade active.

Domestic Wool Slow, Aussies Lower, Mohair Prices Improve
Wool trading remained slow again last week across most of the U.S. Demand was moderate for light supplies, which were held in strong hands. Demand for wool top in the world market was narrow and little interest is shown in forward sales.

San Saba Feeder Calf, Yearling Trend Higher
Feeder steer and heifer calves sold $2-5 higher, some weaned calves $8-13 higher, slaughter cows and bulls $2-5 higher. Receipts totaled 1420 head. Mason had no sale due to the opening of hunting season.

Milano Feeder Steers Steady, Heifers Rise
Feeder steers sold steady, heifers steady to $3 higher, the advance on weights over 500 pounds, slaughter cows $2-3 higher, bulls steady. Receipts totaled 1121 head.

Lampasas Feeder Steer, Heifer Prices Higher
Feeder steers and heifers sold $1-2 higher, slaughter cows $3-4 higher, bulls $1-2 higher. Receipts totaled 963 head.

All Abilene Cattle Prices Called Higher
Feeder steers and heifers sold steady to $3 higher, slaughter cows and bulls $3-5 higher, stock cows $10-20 higher. Receipts totaled 861 head.

Hamilton Sheep, Goats Called Steady Monday
All sheep and goats sold steady on receipts of 1696 head.

Llano Feeder Cattle Prices Mostly Higher
Lightweight feeder steers and heifers sold $3-5 higher, middleweights steady, heavyweights $2 higher, slaughter cows $2 higher, bulls $4 higher. Receipts totaled 395 head.

Fredericksburg Lambs Firm, Goats Steady
Feeder and slaughter lambs sold steady to firm, slaughter goats steady. Receipts totaled 2252 head.

U.S. Meat Production 6.4% Below A Year Ago
Total red meat production under federal inspection last week was estimated at 875.3 million pounds, 2.6 percent less than a week earlier and 6.4 percent less than a year ago. Cumulative meat production for the year to date was down 1.1 percent at 39.6 billion pounds.

All Comanche Cattle Prices Called Higher
Feeder steers and heifers sold $3-10 higher, slaughter cows $3-7 higher, bulls $2-5 higher. Receipts totaled 394 head.

Decatur Calves Lower, Yearlings Sell Higher
Feeder steer and heifer calves sold lower, yearlings steady to higher, slaughter cows and bulls higher, stock cows and pairs steady. Receipts totaled 822 head.

Boxed Beef Values Just A Hair Higher
The national comprehensive boxed beef cutout report on all fed steers and heifers sold last week edged upward 67 cents to $157.89.

Fredericksburg Steers Steady, Heifers Higher
Feeder steers sold steady, heifers $1-2 higher, slaughter cows and bulls $2-3 higher. Receipts totaled 1585 head.

Billings Feeder Lambs Move Sharply Higher
Feeder lambs sold $7-23 higher, the full advance on weights under 80 pounds, slaughter ewes steady to $2 higher. Receipts totaled 2984 head.

Coleman Feeder Steer, Heifer Prices Higher
Feeder steers and heifers sold steady to $1 higher, slaughter cows and bulls steady, stock cows and pairs $5-10 lower. Receipts totaled 993 head.

Kansas Direct Feeder Cattle Prices Steady
Feeder steers and heifers sold steady to firm in Kansas direct trade last week. Order buyers are having a difficult time finding country yearling cattle, most feeders having sold early this year because of the drouth conditions and high prices. The weather turned cold, causing ice on water tanks. Sales were confirmed on 5012 head.

Goldthwaite Lambs Steady, Goats Lower
Slaughter lambs sold steady, slaughter goats $5-7 lower. Receipts totaled 1503 head.
