Boxed Beef Values
Just A Hair Higher

DES MOINES —(USDA)— The national comprehensive boxed beef cutout report on all fed steers and heifers sold last week edged upward 67 cents to $157.89.

There were 38 loads of Prime, up $6.80 at $196.02; 341 loads branded, down $2.67 at $178.47; 1347 loads Choice, down 22 cents at $167.22; 1348 loads Select, up $1.42 at $148.44; and 2038 loads ungraded, up 59 cents at $145.43.

The average price on ribs was $263.02, chucks $117.67, rounds $135.31, loins $226.08, briskets $92.35, short plates $107.05, and flanks $99.35.

There was a total of 5112 loads, including 4791 domestic and 321 exports, with 2225 loads for delivery within 21 days, 567 loads negotiated for delivery over 21 days, 149 loads of formula contracts, and 281 loads of forward contracts.
