Medical science is finding more and more that you are what you
eat. I've learned, for instance, that if you eat garlic, you
are apt to be very lonely.

Up on the south side of the Mertzon townsite, two
thoroughly wrecked roundup carts stand in a row behind the old
Morgan place. Must have been working mighty heavy stock, or
hunting awful big game to be in such smashed condition.
Can’t imagine a golf game being so destructive, or any match
except a demolition derby causing so much damage. |

On The Edge Of
Common Sense
It is not easy being a protester. Since 9/11 the
public has less empathy with causes that only a privileged
class of people would have time to mess with, including
extremist animal rights activists. Those who espouse the
proposition that a baby’s life has no more value than a
monkey or a bug are not considered quaint eccentrics anymore.
They are looked upon with disdain. |

Its The Pitts
I just read a big-city editorial that suggested
Americans are tired of subsidizing the American farmer and
rancher. With all due respect, Mr. Editor, American farmers
and ranchers have grown tired of pinheaded pundits and
politicians, who wouldn't know a cow patty if they stepped in
it, pontificating on subjects they know nothing about. |

I don’t know how you feel about Wal-Mart. It has a real
love/hate relationship with most people. They hate it but shop
there when they need to buy something and believe they are
getting the best price for their money. Shows the power of
advertising.
