Drake of San Angelo this week bought 1000 mutton lambs on northern
order at 17 cents a pound. Purchases included one load from Hillery
Phillips of Ozona, 100 from Gerald Hartgraves of Eldorado, and about
two loads from Sam Carnes of Sterling City. The lambs weighed from 68
to 84 pounds.

408 pounds at $35 and received them last week from Cotton McDade of
Clayton, N.M. These were Diamond A calves off the old 3-V Ranch at
Seligman, Ariz. J.A. Pitman of Hereford bought 670 steers of the same
brand weighing 396 at $36 cwt., delivered to Hereford.

Lantis of Dodge City, Kan., bought 280 heifer yearlings weighing 660
pounds at $25 from Winfield and received them recently on order for a
Nebraska feeder.

Parker of Stratford has sold 1300 steer yearlings for future delivery
to Gilbert Childers of Dalhart at $25 cwt.
Delivery
is at seller’s option. Parker plans to deliver 300-350 heavier
steers, weighing near 850 pounds, sometime in December; the remaining
950-1000 head, expected to weigh near 800 pounds, will be delivered
about April 1.

Sheppard, order buyer of Springfield, Mo., this week bought in the
Flint Hills of Kansas, 100 choice Angus cows, three to six years old,
and three Angus bulls at $300 each for the 103 head; they were bought
for a western Oklahoma rancher.

sold 210,000 pounds of lamb wool with whiteface 20.6-23.5 micron
bringing 37 cents grease, crossbred 23.5-26 micron 30 cents. Nearly
530,000 pounds has sold in warehouse trading the past two weeks.
Mohair trading was slow. In Texas 15,000 pounds of yearling kid went
at $2.50, No. 2 at $2.25.

total of 64 bulls averaged $2076 per head in the West Central Texas
Angus Association sale at Producers Livestock Auction in San Angelo.
The high selling bull was consigned by Hales Cattle Co., Canyon, and
sold to Walter C. Pope, Eldorado, for $4300.

red meat production under federal inspection last week was estimated
at 914.7 million pounds, four percent more than a week ago and 5.1
percent above a year ago.

Panhandle movement showed 27,800 head of cattle, but almost 25,000 of
those were formulas and the bulk of the others sold Friday. Packers by
late Tuesday were bidding $60 after earlier bids reported as low as
$59.
