Most Texas Markets Take Holiday Rest
Most Texas livestock markets took the week off in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. Lambs remain in short supply everywhere, and when they are available, packers have been taking most of the lightweight feeder type lambs for ethnic holiday fare.

Plains Feedlots Sell Early, Fare Better Than Last Week
Plains cattle feeders sweated last week’s market into the late hours and then moved only a light run of cattle at disappointing prices. This week’s trade developed early at levels at least a couple of dollars better than previous rates.

Producers Internet Auction offered 1900 feeder cattle in their regular sale. Consignments were from Florida, Alabama, Mississippi and Texas, delivery current through December.

Boxed Beef Cutouts Edge Upward 62 Cents
The national comprehensive boxed beef cutout report on all fed steers and heifers sold last week moved up 62 cents to $156.55.

Billings Lambs Lower, Slaughter Ewes Higher
Feeder lambs weighing less than 80 pounds sold $6-10 lower, heavier weights $3-5 lower, slaughter ewes $10-15 higher. Receipts totaled 2094 head.

Most Junction Sheep, Goat Prices Higher
Most sheep and goat prices were higher with kids $5-10 higher. Receipts totaled 1047 head.

Hamilton Goats Up, Lamb Prices Steady
Lambs sold steady, ewes $3-5 higher, kid goats $4-7 higher, nannies steady. Receipts totaled 1246 head.

Goldthwaite Sheep, Goat Prices Higher
Slaughter lambs were steady to firm, lightweights $5-10 higher, slaughter goats $10-12 higher. Receipts totaled 2368 head.

Angelo Feeder Cattle Rise, Stock Cows Weak
Feeder steers and heifers sold firm to $2 higher last week, slaughter cows and bulls $1-2 higher, stock cows and pairs weak to slightly lower. Receipts totaled 4000 head, including around 2000 head in a special stock cow and pair offering in conjunction with the regular sale. Feeders made up around 35 percent of the run and slaughter cows and bulls 15 percent.

Comanche Feeder Calf, Yearling Trade Strong
Feeder steers and heifers sold steady to strong, slaughter cows $1-3 higher, bulls $2-4 higher. Receipts totaled 549 head.

Fredericksburg Feeder Steers, Heifers Higher
Feeder steers sold $4-6 higher, heifers $2-4 higher, slaughter cows and bulls $1-2 higher. Receipts totaled 1771 head.

Kansas Direct Feeder Cattle Prices Higher
Feeder steers sold steady to $2 higher last week in Kansas direct trade, heifers steady to firm. The mild weather came to an end Friday morning with lows in the high 20s. Sales were confirmed on 7429 head.

Colorado City Feeder Cattle Prices Higher
Feeder steers and heifers sold $3-6 higher, slaughter cows and bulls steady to $1 higher, stock cows $20-40 higher, pairs steady. Receipts totaled 806 head.

Mason, San Saba Feeder Steers, Heifers Strong
Feeder steer and heifer calves sold steady to strong last week in Mason and San Saba, slaughter cows and bulls steady, stock cows and pairs $5-10 higher. Receipts totaled 2061 head at the two sales.

Domestic Wool Slow, Aussie Off, Mohair Higher In South Africa
Domestic wool trading remains at a standstill in most areas. Demand was light from both domestic and export buyers.

Feeder steers and heifers sold $1-2 higher, slaughter cows $1-2 higher, bulls $2-3 higher. Receipts totaled 1103 head.

Coleman Feeder Steer, Heifer Trade Higher
Feeder steers and heifers sold $2-3 higher, slaughter cows and bulls $2-3 higher, stock cows and pairs steady to firm. Receipts totaled 1179 head.

U.S. Meat Production 5.8% Below A Year Ago
Total red meat production under federal inspection last week was estimated at 881.3 million pounds, 1.6 percent more than a week ago and 5.8 percent less than a year ago. Cumulative meat production for the year to date was down 1.2 percent at 41.4 billion pounds.
