Boxed Beef Values

            DES MOINES —(USDA)— The national comprehensive boxed beef cutout report on all fed steers and heifers sold last week moved up $5.08 to $140.41, the highest this year.

            There were 22 loads of Prime at an average price of $l79.89, 316 loads branded at $147.71, 1491 loads Choice at $141.62, 972 loads Select at $135.73, and 1719 loads ungraded at $134.95.

            The average price on ribs was up $.34 at $198.35, chucks up $6.09 at $109.22, rounds up $7.73 at $130.16, loins up $6.56 at $209.24, briskets up $.82 at $95.17, short plates up $.33 at $73.09, and flanks up $2.81 at $78.68.

            There was a total of 4522 loads, including 4519 domestic and three export, with 1988 negotiated for delivery within 21 days, 488 loads negotiated for over 21 days, 1681 formula contracts, and 364 forward contracts.
