Goats Find Steady Going
Slaughter goats at Texas markets this week were generally steady
except in Junction, where prices were called weak to $3 lower.
Exports into Mexico continue to be static, waiting for permits to
open back up.
Slaughter under federal inspection the week ending February 21
included 9784 goats.
Goat meat imports the week ending January 24 totaled 120 metric
tons, or around 164,000 pounds.
In Lometa 35-45 pound meat type slaughter kids brought $135-150,
50-70 pounds $125-150, 70-90 pounds $120-144, and over 100 pounds
$90-108. Nannies were $60-73 and billies $85-110.
Goldthwaite had 25-40 pound kids at $110-119, a few to $141, 40-60
pounds $135-153 and 60-80 pounds $135-154. Muttons 80-120 pounds moved
for $100-131, nannies 80-130 pounds $60-75 and billies 90-200 pounds
$76-86, a few $97-110.
Hamilton kids weighing 20-40 pounds made $125-149, 40-70 pounds
$135-154, and over 70 pounds $80-115. Muttons were $85-103, nannies
$55-70, and billies $75-85.
In San Angelo 25-40 pound kids brought $125-135, a few to $144,
40-80 pounds $140-150, a few $155-159, 90-100 pounds $110-117, and
100-110 pounds $95-97, a few to $110. Nannies 80-125 pounds were
$54-67, 130-185 pounds $44-52, a few $62, and billies 100-150 pounds
$72-92, 150-250 pounds $69-80.
Fredericksburg termed 25-45 pound kids $120-139, 45-60 pounds
$130-153, and 60-80 pounds $127-145. Muttons 90-120 pounds brought
$93-100, nannies 60-120 pounds $55-69, a few to $78, and billies
95-200 pounds $79-89.
