Boxed Beef Values
Up $7.39 Last Week
DES MOINES, Iowa —(USDA)— The national comprehensive boxed beef
cutout report on all fed steers and heifers sold last week jumped
$7.39 to $135.09.
All five categories showed price advances ranging from $1.88 on
Prime and $5.38 on Choice to $6.96 on branded. Select was up $6.20 and
ungraded up $6.71. All average prices on the seven cuts advanced,
ranging from $.29 on briskets to $24.83 on ribs.
There were l00 loads of Prime at an average price of $159.43, 575
loads branded at $141.66, 1420 loads Choice at $134.55, 1356 loads
Select at $128.84, and 2076 loads ungraded at $128.73.
The average price of ribs was $210.53, chucks $95.68, rounds
$118.01, loins $212.02, briskets $84.55, short plates $73.40, and
flanks $76.81.
There was a total of 5527 loads, including 5493 domestic and 34
export, with 2310 loads negotiated for delivery within 21 days, 586
loads negotiated for delivery over 21 days, 2081 formula loads, and
550 loads of forward contracts.
