Texas Slaughter Goat Prices
Move Higher, Kill Increases
Texas slaughter goat prices moved to higher levels again this week.
Quotations were $3-10 higher, some sales fully $15 higher.
Slaughter under federal inspection the week ending April 3 included
16,254 goats.
Goat meat imports the week ending March 6 totaled 76 metric tons,
or around 167,200 pounds.
Lometa quoted 35-45 pound kids $125-156, 50-70 pounds $125-156 and
70-90 pounds $117-135. Muttons were $98-110, nannies $60-72 and
billies $80-90.
Goldthwaite was called $10-15 higher with 25-45 pound kids
$130-147, 45-60 pounds $145-165 and 60-80 pounds $153-164. Muttons
80-120 pounds were $95-114, nannies 60-120 pounds $60-76, a few
lightweights $80-90, and billies 90-200 pounds $84-98.
Hamilton was $4-10 higher, 20-40 pound kids bringing $135-155,
40-70 pounds $140-156 and over 70 pounds $105-152. Nannies made $42-72
and billies $73-90.
San Angelo kids were firm with 25-40 pounds $130-142, 40-60 pounds
$145-161.50, and 60-80 pounds $147-160.50. Muttons 80-100 pounds
brought $130-135, nannies 80-125 pounds $55-71, 130-150 pounds $40-58,
billies 80-100 pounds $90-95, 100-150 pounds $70-85, and 150-250
pounds $65-78, a few to $86.
Fredericksburg kids sold $3-5 higher, 30-45 pounders making
$120-145, 45-60 pounds $145-164.50, and 60-80 pounds $143-165. Muttons
85-130 pounds were $90-98, a few $106-118, nannies 60-130 pounds
$60-79, a few to $90, and billies 100-225 pounds $77-87.
Kids weighing 40-60 pounds moved direct in West Texas at $135-140
and 60-80 pounds $133-138.
Illinois direct kids were $110-120 on 20-40 pounds, 40-60 pounds
$90-110, 60-70 pounds $95-100, and 70-90 pound yearlings $70-80.
