Feeder lamb numbers remain short around the country. Neither Goldthwaite nor Billings had enough to quote. Easter demand has been filled, but ethnic demand for lightweight lambs continues, and many of those lightweight lambs continue to move to kill floors.

Feeder lambs sold firm to $5 higher this week, slaughter lambs firm, slaughter ewes firm to $2 higher, kid goats and nannies firm. Receipts totaled 9357 head, around 20 percent slaughter ewes, 15 percent slaughter lambs, 15 percent feeder lambs and 50 percent goats.

U.S. Meat Production 3.6% Below A Year Ago
Total red meat production under federal inspection last week was estimated at 831.5 million pounds, 2.4 percent more than a week earlier and 3.6 percent less than a year ago. Cumulative meat production for the year to date was down 4.8 percent at 12.9 billion pounds.

San Saba Feeder Steer, Heifer Prices Higher
Feeder steer and heifer calves sold $2-3 higher, steer yearlings $4-5 higher, slaughter cows and bulls $4-5 higher, stock cattle steady. Receipts totaled 578 head. There was no sale in Mason due to the Easter holiday.

Coleman Feeder Steer, Heifer Prices Higher
Feeder steers sold $2-3 higher, heifers steady to $1 higher, slaughter cows and bulls $3-5 higher, stock cows and pairs steady to firm. Receipts totaled 1194 head.

Hamilton Sheep, Goats Higher, Cattle Steady

Feeder steers and heifers sold steady to $4 lower, slaughter cows and bulls steady. Receipts totaled 344 head.

The Red Mountain Genetics bull sale averaged $3537 per head on 58 head.

Llano Feeder Steers, Heifers Fully Steady
Feeder steers and heifers sold fully steady, fleshy newcrops under pressure, slaughter cows and bulls $2 higher. Receipts totaled 398 head.

Milano Feeder Steers, Heifers Trend Lower

Feeder lambs sold $5-10 lower, slaughter lambs steady, slaughter kids $3-5 higher, stock kids $5-10 higher. Receipts totaled 3492 head.

Boxed Beef Values At Four-Month High
The national comprehensive boxed beef cutout report on all fed steers and heifers sold last week jumped up $7.27 to $147.36, the highest since the BSE scare in December.

Feeder steers and heifers sold $2-3 higher, slaughter cows and bulls $3-5 higher, stock cows and pairs $25-50 higher. Receipts totaled 381 head.
