Richard Adams of Amarillo is reported to have sold about 750 steer
yearlings for fall delivery to Weisbart Cattle company of Denver at
$18.50; these will be delivered off Adams’ ranch at Sunray, Texas.

Red River Ranch of Springer, New Mexico, is reported to have sold
around 200 steer calves for October delivery at 21 cents a pound.

Walter Smith of Wyoming, Illinois, is reported to have contracted
300 Angus mixed calves for fall delivery in the Roy, New Mexico area
at $18 and $20.

Ray Barber of Amarillo sold, to John Easley of Lovington, New
Mexico, 122 heifer yearlings weighing 409 pounds at $17.50 for
immediate delivery.

Jess Burner of Pecos, Texas, and Fort Sumner, New Mexico, sold 900
cows and calves to Nevada buyers and delivered them this week off his
Fort Sumner ranch at $145 per pair. The cows were good quality, four
years old.

M.L. Happel of Amarillo bought, on eastern order, 598 feeder steers
averaging 929 pounds at $27 and received them last weekend from Royce
Bros., El Reno, Okla.

Carrol Farmer & Co., San Angelo, received this week a load of
mixed fat and feeder Rambouillet lambs from Paul Burns, Robert Lee, at
$18.50 on the feeders, weighing 61 pounds, and $22 for the fats,
weighing 75 pounds.

Brooks Pletcher, Perryton, Texas, bought 125 heifer and steer
calves at $32 and $35 for Oct. 1 delivery with a 20-mile haul and
three percent shrink from Travis Flowers, also of Perryton; these
calves are expected to weigh around 450 pounds at delivery.

Jewel Avent of Tulia, Texas, bought 700 mixed calves expected to
weigh about 400 pounds at $32 and $34 for Oct. 1-15 delivery from M.L.
Happel, Amarillo; these are located in the Matador area. Avent also
bought, from Miles Cattle Co., Cresson, Texas, 230 crossbred Brahman
heifer and steer yearlings expected to weigh about 650 pounds for July
1 delivery at $26 straight across.

Ray Barr and Leonard Zielke of Amarillo bought, from Dorsey Mae
Thompson of Sulphur, Okla., 450 Hereford mixed calves expected to
weigh around 450 pounds at $32 and $35 for heifers and steers,
respectively, for Aug. 1 delivery on the heavy end and Oct. 1 on the
light end. They also bought, from Jim Lester & Son, Tishomingo,
Okla., 100 Angus steer calves expected to weigh 475-500 pounds at $35,
also for Aug.1 and Oct. 1 delivery.

Travis Martin, Seymour, this week sold 200 head of good quality
heifer yearlings averaging 625 pounds to Lloyd Goodner, Amarillo, at
$16.50 for delivery by June 10.

approximately 3000 head of choice clipped, fed spring lambs weighing
83-85 pounds with No.2 pelts from Kothmann Bros. Commission Co.,
Menard, at $22.50.

long-age calves weighing 350 pounds at $21 and received them this week
from Yeso Ranch Co., Yeso, N.M.

and choice grade, weighing 1100 pounds at $19.50 from Gill Cattle Co.
for delivery this week out of the Ted Waldhauser feedlot in Clovis.

at $18 and $23 and received them last weekend from J.T. Trew of

calves expected to weigh 425-450 at $33 and $37 for November 1
delivery to a New Mexico buyer. The firm about a month earlier sold
250 Hereford mixed yearlings expected to weigh 700 pounds at $26.50
and $29 for November 25 delivery to another New Mexico buyer.

expected to weigh 85-95 pounds and to be 80-90 percent fat at $25-26

The 1998 gross income from cattle and calves, hogs and pigs, and
sheep and lambs for the U.S. totaled $44 billion, down 12 percent from
1997. Gross income fell for all three species. Both hogs and pigs and
sheep and lambs declined the most, at 28 and 24 percent, respectively.
Cattle and calves declined six percent.

Lamb and mutton passed for entry into the U.S. last week totaled
833 metric tons or 1.8 million pounds, the equivalent of 56 percent of
domestic production. The total imported for the year to date is now
46.9 million pounds, down 4.5 percent from the same period a year ago.

USDA reports 2500 head of feeder cattle selling direct off Oklahoma
range, and in Montana the count came to 885 head. In the Northwest the
direct feeder cattle trade totaled 1350 head as confirmed by the USDA.
