Meat type slaughter goats held steady again on most markets.
Exceptions were New Holland, Pennsylvania, where the trend ranged
from steady to $10 lower, and San Angelo, which called lesser
quality kids $5-10 lower.

Plains feedlots were seeking $91 on fed cattle at midweek against
bids of $85. Trade came early week, but at a disappointing

Imported meat and poultry passed for
entry into the United States the week ending September 2 totaled
25,426 metric tons or 28.6 percent below last year’s figure for the
same period of 35,637. Fresh beef was off 37.3 percent at 14,387,
lamb and mutton down 19.8 percent at 878. The following figures are
in metric tons.

According to recent data from U.S. Customs and Border Protection, as of
September 25, U.S. imports of beef subject to a tariff rate quota
equaled 593,164 metric tons. This was 13.7 percent less than the
same period a year ago.
