Plains Fed Cattle Trade Quiet
As Packers Resist $100 Plateau 

Plains fed cattle trade jumped again last week, most trades $3-4 higher at $98 with some late deals as high as $99. At presstime this week, feedlots were asking $102-103 against bids of $97.

Lambs Steady Across Board, Ewes Firm 
Lamb and sheep markets this week were able to stop the slide that was prevalent in last week’s trading. Feeder lambs in San Angelo were steady, as were feeders at most other markets. Slaughter lambs were mostly steady to firm, as were slaughter ewes.

Slaughter meat goat prices held generally steady on most recent markets, Hamilton terming some offerings $5 higher and Fredericksburg noting a weaker trend on some.

Imported meat for the week ending January 27 totaled 29,957 metric tons. This compares to 30,637 metric tons for the same period last year and is a two percent decrease. The following figures represent metric tons.

Feeder steers sold $1-3 higher, heifers $2-3 higher, slaughter cows and bulls $1 higher. Receipts totaled 1038 head.

Most Lampasas Feeder Cattle Steady To Firm
Feeder steers and heifers were steady to firm, slaughter cows and bulls steady. Receipts totaled 764 head.

Wool And Mohair LDPs Unchanged 
As of Wednesday, the USDA loan deficiency payment for mohair remained unchanged at 12 cents per pound. The LDP for ungraded wool was also unchanged at 23 cents per pound.

Goldthwaite Light Packer Lambs Higher 
Light slaughter lambs were $3-5 higher, heavyweights steady on a light test, stock and feeder goats steady to firm, slaughter goats steady. Receipts totaled 2728 head.

Wehrmann-Donnell Bull Sale Averages $4042 
The 15th Wehrmann-Donnell bull sale here averaged $4042 per head on 183 registered Angus bulls for a total of $739,600.

Navasota Auction Sells 1482 Head Of Cattle 
No market comparison was available due to the reporter's absence last week. Receipts totaled 1482 head.

Tulia Feeder Cattle Steady To $2 Higher 
Feeder steers were steady to $2 higher, heifers $1-4 higher, slaughter cows and bulls steady to $1 higher on a limited test. Receipts totaled 5289 head.

Haskell Auction Sells 702 Head Of Cattle 
Cattle market price trends were not reported on receipts totaling 702 head.

Fredericksburg Lambs Steady, Goats Gain 
Stock and feeder lambs were steady, slaughter lambs steady, stock and feeder goats $3-5 higher, slaughter goats steady to weak. Receipts totaled 2861 head.

Most Dalhart Feeder Cattle $3-5 Higher 
Feeder steers and heifers were $3-5 higher except 600-700 pound steers $8-10 higher, slaughter beef cows steady, slaughter Holstein cows $2 higher, slaughter bulls steady. Receipts totaled 3402 head.

Hamilton Lambs Steady, Kid Goats $5 Higher 
Lambs and ewes sold steady Monday, choice kid goats $5 higher and nannies steady. Receipts totaled 2945 head.

Lockhart Feeder Cattle Trend Steady To Higher 
Feeder steers and heifers were $1-3 higher, some under 300 pounds $5 higher, slaughter cows $1-2 lower, slaughter bulls $1 lower. Receipts totaled 776 head.

Nacogdoches Feeder Cattle Trend Higher 
Feeder steers and heifers under 600 pounds were $4-8 higher, over 600 pounds $2-3 higher, slaughter cows steady to $2 lower, slaughter bulls steady. Receipts totaled 635 head.

Junction Sells 2490 Head Of Sheep, Goats 
Sheep and goat price trends were unreported on receipts of 2490 head.

Graham Feeder Cattle Steady To $3 Higher 
Feeder steers and heifers under 500 pounds were steady, over 500 pounds steady to $3 higher, slaughter cows $1-3 lower, slaughter bulls steady. Receipts totaled 894 head.

Athens Feeder Cattle Steady To $4 Higher 
Feeder steers and heifers were steady to $4 higher, slaughter cows $1-2 lower, slaughter bulls $2-3 lower. Receipts totaled 1014 head.

San Saba And Mason Feeder Cattle Higher 
Feeder steers and heifers sold $2 higher in Mason and San Saba, stocker steers $3-5 higher, stocker heifers $3 higher, packer cows and bulls $2 lower. Receipts at the two sales totaled 1285 head.

Superior Livestock Auction offered more than 38,463 cattle during their regularly scheduled video auction.

Coleman Feeder Cattle Sell Steady To Higher 
Feeder steers under 500 pounds were steady, over 500 pounds $2-4 higher, heifers under 500 pounds steady to instances $4 lower, over 500 pounds $2-4 higher, slaughter cows and bulls $2-4 lower, replacement cows and cow-calf pairs steady to firm. Receipts totaled 2225 head.

Lometa Heavy Packer Lambs Decline $5-10
Heavy lambs were $5-10 lower, stocker nannies $5 lower, most other sheep and goat classes steady to slightly weak. Receipts totaled 1598 head.
