Mixed In Most Recent Trades
Slaughter meat goat prices were mixed
in most recent sales. San Angelo was firm, Junction steady to weak,
Hamilton steady to $5 lower and Goldthwaite $3-5 lower, but
Fredericksburg reported a $1-3 higher trend, and New Holland,
Pennsylvania was $5-15 higher per head.

The weak undertone that had been so
pervasive as a part of the sheep market for the past several weeks
became more than just an undertone in the last week as markets
across the country reported lower prices on all classes.

fed cattle trade. Last week’s market was active on Friday at largely

Boxed Beef Cutout Prices Mostly Down
The national comprehensive boxed beef cutout report for last week showed
prices down $2.87 from the previous week at $139.08. A year ago, the
cutout value was $143.52.

Up
Feeder steers and heifers 300-500 pounds were mostly steady, 500-700
pounds instances $1-2 higher, slaughter cows steady, slaughter bulls
$2 higher. Receipts totaled 2274 head.
Clifton Feeder Steer, Heifer Prices Lower
Feeder steers and heifers were $1-3 lower, instances $4 lower,
slaughter cows and bulls steady. Receipts totaled 1275 head.
Coleman Light Feeder Steers $2-3 Higher
Feeder steers under 500 pounds were $2-3 higher, over 500 pounds $3
lower, heifers under 500 pounds steady to $3 higher, over 500 pounds
steady to $1 higher, slaughter cows and bulls $1-2 lower,
replacement cows and cow-calf pairs steady to $75 lower. Receipts
totaled 1671 head.
Most Crockett Feeder Cattle Weak To Lower
Feeder steers and heifers were weak
to $2 lower with medium and large No. 2-3 offerings $3-4 lower,
slaughter cows $2-3 lower, slaughter bulls $2 higher. Receipts
totaled 2873 head.
Dalhart Feeder Cattle Price Trends Uneven
Feeder steers and heifers under 600 pounds were steady except
400-500 pound steers $3-5 lower, steer and heifer calves over 600
pounds steady, a few load lots of yearling steers firm to $2 higher,
slaughter cows $1 lower. Receipts totaled 3159 head.
Most Fredericksburg Feeder Cattle Lower
Feeder steers weighing less than 650 pounds sold $1-2 lower, heifers
more than 650 pounds steady, slaughter cows and bulls $1 higher.
Receipts totaled 1172 head.
Fredericksburg Lambs Steady, Goats
Higher
Feeder lambs were steady, slaughter
lambs $3-5 higher, slaughter goats $1-3 higher. Receipts totaled
2564 head.
Goldthwaite Lambs Steady, Goats Down
Lightweight slaughter lambs were steady, stocker and feeder goats
$3-5 lower, slaughter goats $3-5 lower. Receipts totaled 1951 head.
Most Graham Feeder, Packer Cattle Drop
Feeder steers under 500 pounds were steady to $3 lower, over 500
pounds $1-2 lower, heifers under 500 pounds $3-5 lower, over 500
pounds $2-4 lower, slaughter cows and bulls $2-3 lower, replacement
cows and cow-calf pairs $150 lower. Receipts totaled 1159 head.
Hamilton Lambs Lose Again, Cattle Steady
Lambs sold $5 lower Monday, ewes $15 higher, kid goats steady to $5
lower, nannies steady, choice nannies $20 higher. Other trends were
unreported on receipts of 2020 head.
Imported Meat Total 4.37% Above Last Year
Imported meat for the week ending
September 15 totaled 25,651 metric tons. This compares to 24,576
metric tons for the same period last year and is a 4.37 percent
increase. The following figures represent metric tons.
Most Mason, San Saba Feeder Cattle Lower
Feeder steers sold $2-5 lower in San Saba and Mason, stocker steers
steady to $2 lower, stocker heifers steady, feeder heifers $2 lower,
packer cows and bulls $2 lower. Receipts totaled 2638 head.
San Saba Special Sells 3762 Heifers,
Pairs
In special female replacement
trading, most bred heifers sold for $1075-1400 per head, open
heifers $775-920. Pairs were slightly uneven, better pairs bringing
$1250-1775 per pair, thinner and/or mixed color pairs $1050-1430.
Receipts totaled 3762 head.

Weak
All represented sheep and goat
classes sold steady to weak on receipts totaling 1966 head.
Lampasas Feeder Steer, Heifer Prices
Decline
Feeder steers and heifers were $3-5
lower, slaughter cows and bulls steady. Receipts totaled 828 head.
Mohair LDP
Up, Wool Unchanged
WASHINGTON — As of
Wednesday the LDP for mohair rose to 43 cents. The
LDP for ungraded wool remained unchanged at 15 cents.

Feeder steers and heifers were $1-3
lower, slaughter cows $2-3 lower, slaughter bulls steady to $1
lower. Receipts totaled 857 head.
Red Meat Production 5.2% Above A Year Ago
Total red meat production under
federal inspection last week was estimated at 1002.5 million pounds,
.5 percent lower than the previous week and 5.2 percent above last
year. Cumulative meat production for the year to date was 1.9
percent above last year.

Feeder steers and heifers were $4-5
lower, slaughter cows $1 lower, slaughter bulls steady. Receipts
totaled 1425 head.

tightening numbers of yearlings selling mostly steady to instances
