TOO COMMON this spring is the absence of lambs standing just behind their mothers. Lambing percentages in West Texas are down this spring, some seasoned operators reporting lamb crops in the 50-70 percent range rather than the 100 percent-plus of which most are usually able to boast. Best guesses as to why range anywhere from predators to poor nutrition.
