Lamb Market Firm To Up Where Tested
Lightweight slaughter lambs were firm at San Angelo this week and $3-5 higher at Fredericksburg, though they were down as much as $3 in South Dakota. Feeder lambs in Texas were steady to firm where receipts were high enough for comparison.

Plains Feedlots Taking $97-98
In Early To Midweek Movement

Plains feedlots slipped a bit last week to settle mostly at $100, and by midweek this go-round Texas Panhandle feeders had turned loose of about 22,000 head at $97-98. Kansas prices were in the same range.

Show A Somewhat Softer Tone

Slaughter meat goat prices showed a softer tone in most recent sales. Fredericksburg was steady to firm and Junction mostly steady, but San Angelo was weak, Hamilton $5 lower and New Holland, Pennsylvania $5-10 lower per head.

Boxed Beef Cutout Prices All Increase
The national comprehensive boxed beef report for last week showed prices up $3.28 from the previous week at $169.04. A year ago the cutout value was $141.97.

Compared to two weeks ago, feeder steers and heifers weighing 400-500 pounds were $1-2 lower, 550-800 pounds $2 higher, slaughter cows and bulls $6 higher. Receipts totaled 2176 head.

Clifton Feeder Cattle Prices Increase $2-4
Feeder steers and heifers were $2-4 higher, slaughter cows $4 higher, slaughter bulls $2 higher. Receipts totaled 1400 head.

Coleman Feeder Steer, Heifer Prices Higher
Feeder steers under 500 pounds were $1-2 higher, over 500 pounds $1-3 higher, heifers under 500 pounds $2-3 higher, over 500 pounds steady to $1 higher, slaughter cows and bulls $2-4 higher, replacement cows and cow-calf pairs steady to $100 higher. Receipts totaled 1702 head.

Most Comanche Cattle Prices Termed Steady
Feeder cattle were mostly steady compared to the pre-holiday sale, some classes of calves $2-4 higher, plainer and lighter calves lower, slaughter cows and bulls $3-5 higher. Receipts totaled 648 head.

Dalhart Feeder Cattle Steady To $1 Higher
Feeder steers and heifers were steady to $1 higher compared to two weeks ago, slaughter cows and bulls firm. Receipts totaled 1386 head.

Most Edinburg Feeder Cattle Trends Higher
Feeder steers and heifers were $2-4 higher, slaughter cows steady, slaughter bulls steady. Receipts totaled 325 head.

Emory Steers, Heifers Called Unevenly Steady
Feeder steers and heifers were unevenly steady, slaughter cows $1-3 lower, slaughter bulls $2-3 higher. Receipts totaled 1336 head.

Most Fredericksburg Feeder Cattle Higher
Steers and heifers sold $2-3 higher, slaughter cows and bulls $2-3 higher. Receipts totaled 1505 head.

Fredericksburg Feeder Lambs Steady To Firm
Stock and feeder lambs were steady to firm, lightweight slaughter lambs $3-5 higher, heavyweights steady to firm, stock and feeder goats steady to firm, slaughter goats steady to firm. Receipts totaled 3612 head.

Goldthwaite Sells 2583 Head Of Sheep, Goats
No market comparison is available due to the previous week’s holiday closing. Receipts totaled 2583 head of sheep and goats.

Light Graham Feeder Steers $2-4 Lower
Feeder steers under 500 pounds were $2-4 lower, over 500 pounds $2-3 lower, heifers under 500 pounds $2 higher, over 500 pounds steady to $3 higher, slaughter cows and bulls steady to $3 higher. Receipts totaled 1300 head.

Hamilton Lambs Steady, Stocker Cattle Steady
Lambs were steady Monday, ewes $5 higher, kid goats $5 lower, nannies $20 higher. Receipts totaled 1961 head.

Imported Meat Total 11% Below Year Ago
Imported meat for the week ending May 31 totaled 22,845 metric tons. This compares to 25,670 metric tons for the same period last year and is an 11 percent decrease. The following figures represent metric tons.

Industry Feeder Cattle Prices Lower By $2-4
Feeder steers and heifers were $2-4 lower, slaughter cows steady, slaughter bulls $3-4 higher. Receipts totaled 1058 head.

Most Mason, San Saba Stocker Calves Higher
Stocker steers and heifers sold $2 higher at Mason and San Saba, feeder steers $1 higher, feeder heifers $2 higher, packer cows and bulls $2 higher. Receipts totaled 3720 for the two sales.

Junction Sheep Steady, Kids Steady To Higher
Kid goats were steady to $1 higher, other sheep and goat classes mostly steady. Receipts totaled 1922 head.

Lampasas Feeder Steer, Heifer Prices Higher
Feeder steers and heifers were $2-3 higher, slaughter cows $1-2 higher, slaughter bulls $2-5 higher. Receipts totaled 999 head.

Wool and Mohair LDPs Unchanged
As of Wednesday the LDP for mohair remained at $1.10. The ungraded wool LDP also remained unchanged at 17 cents.

Heavy Llano Steer, Heifer Prices Steady
Steers and heifers over 600 pounds were steady, lighter weights, particularly heifers, $2-4 lower, cows $3-5 lower, bulls steady. Receipts totaled 554 head.

Red Meat Production 5% Above A Year Ago
Total red meat production under federal inspection last week was estimated at 965.8 million pounds, 21.3 percent higher than the previous week and five percent more than last year. Cumulative meat production for the year to date was 5.2 percent higher than last year.

Feeder steers and heifers were mostly steady, slaughter cows steady to $2 lower, slaughter bulls steady. Receipts totaled 832 head.

Yearling feeder cattle sold mostly steady to $2 higher across the country last week, steer and heifer calves mostly steady on a light test.

Pleasanton Steers Sell Mostly Steady To Weak
Feeder steers were steady to weak, instances $3 lower, heifers steady, slaughter cows firm to $2 higher, slaughter bulls steady to firm. Receipts totaled 420 head.

In PRCA’s all-around competition, Trevor Brazile, Decatur, Texas, leads with $129,931 in season earnings to date. He is followed by Josh Peek, Pueblo, Colo., with $100,650; Steven Dent, Mullen, Neb., $79,714; Curtis Casidy, Donalda, Alberta, Canada, $72,892; and Cash Myers, Athens, Texas, $69,346.

Steers And Heifers Weak To Off
In Angelo Special Sale Monday

Steers and heifers were weak to instances $1-2 lower on 500-700 pound heifers here Monday in the season’s third special feeder cattle sale at Producers Livestock Auction.

Superior Livestock Video Sale
Receipts Total 330,000 Cattle

The “Week in the Rockies” video sale had feeder steer and heifer prices mixed, yearlings over 600 pounds $1-4 higher with the greatest advance on weights over 800 pounds, calves extremely uneven but in most cases weaker. Receipts totaled 330,000 head.

Domestic Wool Quiet, Aussie Trade Steady
