Sheep Price Trends
Feeder lambs were mostly down this week with the majority of markets
reporting steady to $4 lower bids. The slaughter market was mixed,
with Sioux Falls off $3-5 while San Angelo managed a $5-10 gain on
light slaughter lambs.
Slaughter Meat Goat Prices
Higher In Most Recent Trade
Slaughter meat goat prices were higher at most recent sales. San
Angelo was $10-15 higher, Goldthwaite and Fredericksburg $15-20
higher and Hamilton $20 higher. New Holland, Pennsylvania was the
exception, quoting trends $6-10 lower per head.
Plains Fed Cattle Trade
Spotty
At Mostly $98.50-99 On The Hoof
Plains fed cattle trade has been on-again, off-again this week, the
Texas Panhandle area moving about 15,500 head at $98.50 to mostly
$99 live Tuesday through Wednesday morning, a few dressed deals at
$155.50-157.50. Packers rolled bids back to $97 Wednesday afternoon
and things quieted down. Last week’s going rate was $100 even.

The national comprehensive boxed beef cutout report for last week
showed prices up $2.72 from the previous week at $161.50. A year
ago, the cutout value was $142.90.

Goats $15-20 Higher Stock and feeder lambs were steady,
light slaughter lambs $5-10 higher, heavyweights steady on a light
test, slaughter goats $15-20 higher. Receipts totaled 1626 head.

Light slaughter lambs were $5-10 higher, heavyweights $5-7 higher,
slaughter goats $15-20 higher. Receipts totaled 1930 head.

Feeder steers under 500 pounds
were $2-4 higher, over 500 pounds $1-2 lower, heifers under 500
pounds $2-4 higher, over 500 pounds $1-3 higher, slaughter cows and
bulls steady to firm. Receipts totaled 753 head.
Heavy Hamilton Lambs
Steady, Steers Gain
Heavy lambs sold $10 higher on Monday, ewes $5 higher, kid goats $20
higher, nannies $10 higher. Receipts totaled 2675 head.

Below Last Year
Imported meat for the week ending June 28 totaled 24,889 metric
tons. This compares to 30,608 metric tons for the same period last
year, and is a 19 percent decrease. The following figures represent
metric tons.

WASHINGTON — As of Wednesday the LDP for mohair remained at 95
cents. The ungraded wool

$1-2-higher, slaughter cows steady with high yielding cows $1
higher, slaughter bulls steady to $1 lower. Receipts totaled 848

U.S. Meat Production 3.9% Above Year Ago
Total red meat production under federal
inspection last week was estimated at 954.1 million pounds, 1.4
percent higher than the previous week and 3.9 percent higher than
last year. Cumulative meat production for the year to date was 4.8
percent higher than last year.
