Slaughter Meat Goat Prices
Uneven In Most Recent Sales

Slaughter meat goat prices were highly uneven in most recent sales. Goldthwaite and Hamilton were steady, San Angelo $20-40 lower, Fredericksburg $30-40 lower, and New Holland, Pennsylvania “sharply higher.”

Packer Lambs Steady To Much Lower
Slaughter lambs sold all over the board this week, with prices called anywhere from steady to $20-30 lower. Goldthwaite lambs were steady, Fredericksburg heavy lambs steady while lightweights sold $5-10 lower, and light lambs at San Angelo were $20-30 lower.

Plains Feedlots Draw $83 Bids
But Looking For $88 At Midweek

Plains feedlots gave up $2 last week to trade at $86, and this week they’re facing $83 bids while asking $88.

Boxed Beef Cutout Prices Move Higher
The national comprehensive boxed beef report for last week showed prices up 57 cents from the previous week at $149.27. A year ago the cutout value was $153.20.

Feeder steers and heifers were mostly steady on a short run due to heavy rain in the trade area, slaughter cows and bulls steady. Receipts totaled 345 head.

Light Coleman Steer Prices $2-3 Lower
Feeder steers under 500 pounds were $2-3 lower, over 500 pounds steady, heifers under 500 pounds $1-3 higher, over 500 pounds $1-3 lower, slaughter cows and bulls steady to firm, replacement cows and pairs $1 lower. Receipts totaled 1424 head.

Crockett Feeder Cattle Steady To $2 Lower
Feeder steers and heifers were steady to $2 lower, slaughter cows steady to $1 higher, slaughter bulls $2-3 lower. Receipts totaled 1685 head.

Light Dalhart Feeder Steers, Heifers Firm
Feeder steers and heifers under 650 pounds were firm, over 650 pounds $1 lower, slaughter cows and bulls steady to $1 lower. Receipts totaled 3062 head.

Edinburg Feeder Cattle Steady To $3 Lower
Feeder steers and heifers were steady to $3 lower, slaughter cows steady, slaughter bulls steady. Receipts totaled 795 head.

Emory Steer Prices Steady To $2 Higher
Feeder steers were steady to $2 higher, heifers steady, slaughter cows steady to $2 higher, slaughter bulls firm. Receipts totaled 747 head.

Fredericksburg Heavy Packer Lambs Steady
Light slaughter lambs were $5-10 lower, heavyweights steady, slaughter goats $30-40 lower. Receipts totaled 4466 head.

Goldthwaite Packer Lambs, Goats Steady
Slaughter lambs were steady, slaughter goats steady. Receipts totaled 4347 head.

Hamilton Goats Sell Steady, Sheep Lower
Kid goats weighing 40-70 pounds were steady Monday, nannies steady, wool lambs $10 lower, Barbado lambs sharply lower, Dorper lambs $25 lower, ewes $10 lower. Sheep and goat receipts totaled 5331 head.

Imported Meat Total 6% Above Last Year
Imported meat for the week ending March 21 totaled 25,988 metric tons. This compares to 24,504 metric tons for the same period last year and is a six percent increase. The following figures represent metric tons.

Industry Feeder Cattle Prices Remain Steady
Feeder steers and heifers were steady to instances $1-2 higher, slaughter cows steady, slaughter bulls $1 lower. Receipts totaled 1086 head.

Mason And San Saba Steers Remain Steady
Stocker steers were steady in San Saba and Mason, stocker heifers $2 higher, feeder steers and heifers $2 higher, packer cows and bulls steady. Receipts totaled 949 head for the two sales.

San Saba Sells 2438 Replacement Females
Most fleshy and younger cow-calf pairs were $1100-1375 per pair in a special replacement female sale, some three-in-ones $1440, solidmouth pairs and those carrying less flesh $925-1100, bred cows $800-1080, one set of 16 four year-old fall calving F-1 red baldies $1110. Good-quality bred heifers were mostly $800-1100, one set of 18 fall-calving Beefmasters $1140. Bigger open heifers that were fleshy and ready to breed were $700-1080, younger and lighter heifers for fall breeding $500-750. Receipts totaled 2438 head.

Red Meat Production .6% Above A Year Ago
Total red meat production under federal inspection last week was estimated at 940.5 million pounds, .6 percent lower than the previous week and three percent lower than last year. Cumulative meat production for the year to date was 4.5 percent lower than last year.

Milano Feeder Cattle Steady To $2 Higher
Feeder steers and heifers were steady to $2 higher, slaughter cows mostly steady, slaughter bulls steady. Receipts totaled 869 head.

Nation’s Yearling Feeder Cattle
Steady To $3 Lower Across Nation

Yearling feeder steers and heifers sold steady to $3 lower across the country last week. Stocker cattle and calves were somewhat uneven as early-week sales were mostly steady to spots $2 lower and mid-week to late in the week fully steady to firm through many auctions. Southeastern markets sold feeder calves steady to $3 lower.

Navasota Feeder Steer Prices $1-3 Higher
Feeder steers were $1-3 higher, heifers steady to $2 higher, slaughter cows $1-2 higher, slaughter bulls $2 lower. Receipts totaled 1278 head.

Most Pleasanton Feeder Steer Prices Higher
Feeder steers were $2-5 higher, heifers $2-4 higher, slaughter cows steady to weak, slaughter bulls steady. Receipts totaled 906 head.

Feeder steers were firm to $5 higher, heifers steady to $4 higher, slaughter cows firm, slaughter bulls steady. Receipts totaled 1610 head.

Tulia Feeder Cattle Steady To $2 Lower
Feeder steers and heifers were steady to $2 lower, slaughter cows and bulls $1-3 higher. Receipts totaled 2817 head.

U.S. Wool Trade Termed Moderate,
Aussie Eastern Index Increases

Domestic wool trading on a clean basis was moderate last week, with 1,797,500 pounds of confirmed sales under moderate to good demand. Reported prices include confirmed sales from the Roswell wool sale along with confirmed country trades. California wools are reported in the fleece states category.
