Packer Lamb Markets
Find Higher Prices

Slaughter lambs selling this week found stronger prices. San Angelo light packer lambs were firm to $5 higher, Goldthwaite lambs $8-15 higher depending on weight, and Fredericksburg packers steady. Feeder lambs at Angelo and Fredericksburg were steady, while Billings feeders sold anywhere from steady to $12 higher.

Plains Feedyards Edge Asking
Prices To $87-Plus At Midweek

Plains cattle feeders bumped the fed cattle market a dollar and a half last week, the second such increase running, to move significant numbers at $85. This week’s asking prices are $87 or better versus steady $82 bids at midweek.

Mixed In Most Recent Sales

Slaughter meat goat prices were mixed in most recent sales. Goldthwaite was quoted $8-10 higher but Hamilton was steady, San Angelo firm, Fredericksburg $3-5 lower and New Holland, Pennsylvania $3-4 lower per head, heavies to $5 lower.

Heavy Amarillo Feeder Cattle Weak To Lower
Feeder steers and heifers over 600 pounds were weak to $2 lower on a light test, not enough under 600 pounds to establish an accurate trend, slaughter cows and bulls $1-3 lower. Receipts totaled 1074 head.

Light Angelo Packer Lambs Firm To Higher
Light slaughter lambs were firm to $5 higher Tuesday, slaughter ewes firm, feeder lambs steady, nannies and kid goats firm. Sheep and goat receipts totaled 8500 head.

Athens Feeder Steer Prices $3-4 Lower
Feeder steers were $3-4 lower, heifers $2-4 lower, slaughter cows $1-3 lower, slaughter bulls steady to $2 lower. Receipts totaled 1868 head.

Billings Light Feeder Lambs Mostly Higher
Feeder lambs under 80 pounds sold mostly $4-5 higher, instances $10-12 higher, 80-100 pounds mostly $2-5 higher, over 100 pounds steady to $2 higher, slaughter ewes and bucks mostly $1-3 lower. Receipts totaled 4615 head.

Boxed Beef Cutout Prices Trend Higher
The national comprehensive boxed beef report for last week showed prices up 78 cents from the previous week at $141.50. A year ago the cutout value was $158.89.

Most Buffalo Feeder Cattle $2-3 Lower
Feeder steers and heifers were $2-3 lower except 500-650 pound heifers $2 higher, slaughter cows and bulls $2-4 lower. Receipts totaled 2643 head.

Clifton Feeder Cattle Prices Decline $2-3
Feeder steers and heifers were $2-3 lower, slaughter cows and bulls steady. Receipts totaled 1192 head.

Light Coleman Steers Steady To $5 Lower
Feeder steers under 500 pounds were steady to $5 lower, over 500 pounds $3-6 lower, heifers under 500 pounds $2-3 lower, over 500 pounds steady, slaughter cows and bulls $1-2 higher, replacement cows and pairs $100 lower. Receipts totaled 2610 head.

Most Crockett Feeder Cattle $2-4 Lower
Feeder steers and heifers were $2-4 lower, instances to $7 lower, slaughter cows and bulls $3-4 lower. Receipts totaled 2967 head.

Heavy Dalhart Feeder Cattle Trend $2 Lower
Feeder steers and heifers under 600 pounds were steady on a light test, over 600 pounds $2 lower, slaughter cows $2 lower. Receipts totaled 1440 head.

DeQuincy Meat Goat Prices Termed Higher
All represented meat goat classes were called higher on receipts of 247 head.

Edinburg Feeder Steer, Heifer Prices Steady
Feeder steers and heifers were steady, slaughter cows $2 lower, slaughter bulls steady. Receipts totaled 870 head.

Emory Feeder Steer Prices Decline $3-7
Feeder steers were $3-7 lower, heifers $3-5 lower, slaughter cows $1-2 lower, slaughter bulls steady. Receipts totaled 1745 head.

Fredericksburg Feeder Lamb Prices Steady
Feeder lambs were steady, slaughter lambs steady, slaughter goats $3-5 lower. Receipts totaled 4333 head.

Light Goldthwaite Packer Lambs Higher
Light slaughter lambs were $10-15 higher, heavyweights $8-10 higher, feeder goats $5-10 higher, slaughter goats $8-10 higher. Receipts totaled 2560 head.

Graham Feeder Cattle Prices Trend Lower
Feeder steers and heifers were $2-4 lower, slaughter cows and bulls steady, replacement cows and cow-calf pairs steady to firm. Receipts totaled 1509 head.

Hamilton Kid Goat Price Trend Steady
Kid goats were steady Monday, nannies steady, Barbado lambs steady, Dorper lambs $5 lower. Sheep and goat receipts totaled 2241 head.

Imported Meat 13% Above A Year Ago
Imported meat for the week ending July 18 totaled 28,140 metric tons. This compares to 24,602 metric tons for the same period last year and is a 13 percent increase. The following figures represent metric tons.

San Saba, Mason Steer
Trend Steady To Lower

Mason and San Saba lighter steers and heifers were steady to $2 lower, heavier steers and heifers steady to $1 lower, fleshy and crossbred calves $3 lower, fleshy bull calves $4 lower, packer cows and bulls $1 higher. Receipts totaled 2479 head for the two sales.

San Saba Replacement Sale Offers 3882 Head
More than 900 cow-calf pairs were offered and most brought $1050-1440, some young pairs carrying less flesh and some solidmouth pairs $900-1050. Approximately 1100 bred cows sold, better and young long bred cows at $950-1220, some Brahmans $1225-1440, winter and spring calving cows $800-1025. About 750 bred heifers sold, bigger long bred and front end ones $1000-1290, spring and winter calvers, along with some fall calving heifers, $800-1000. Approximately 250 open heifers sold, mostly at $580-820 depending on size and kind, one set of young Brahmans $1040. Receipts totaled 3882 head.

Most Lampasas Steers Sell Steady To Firm
Feeder steers were steady to firm, heifers $4-6 lower, slaughter cows $2 higher, slaughter bulls steady to firm on a limited test. Receipts totaled 914 head.

Mohair And Wool  LDPs Unchanged
WASHINGTON - As of Wednesday the LDP for mohair remained at 71 cents. The LDP for ungraded wool was also unchanged at 29 cents.

Lockhart Feeder Cattle Prices Remain Steady
Feeder steers and heifers were steady, slaughter cows $1-2 lower, slaughter bulls steady. Receipts totaled 1050 head.

Red Meat Production 1.1% Below A Year Ago
Total red meat production under federal inspection last week was estimated at 959.5 million pounds, .4 percent lower than the previous week and 1.1 percent lower than last year. Cumulative meat production for the year to date was 3.3 percent lower than last year.

Milano Feeder Steers Steady To $2 Lower
Feeder steers were steady to $2 lower, heifers $1-3 lower, slaughter cows $1-3 lower, slaughter bulls steady. Receipts totaled 1303 head.

Feeder steers and heifers were mostly steady, slaughter cows and bulls $1-2 lower. Receipts totaled 2259 head.

Domestic Wool Slow, Aussie Market Lower
Domestic wool trading on a clean basis was very slow last week with no confirmed sales and moderate demand. All prices are reported on a weighted average.
