Slaughter Meat Goat Prices
Steady In Most Recent Sales
Slaughter meat goat prices were
largely steady in most recent trading. Goldthwaite, Hamilton and
Fredericksburg were all steady, San Angelo firm, and New Holland,
Pennsylvania $5 higher per head.
Packer Lamb Prices Lower To Higher
Light packer lambs sold $5-10 higher
at San Angelo this week. Goldthwaite slaughter lamb prices were
steady, and Fredericksburg packer lambs were off $3-5. Hamilton
lambs were steady to $5 lower. Billings feeder lamb prices ranged
from $4 lower to $10 higher depending on weight, with the
lightweights showing the decline.

Plains fed cattle trade saw a brief
flurry of activity in the Texas Panhandle area around midday
Wednesday at $84, off a dollar from last week’s $2-2.50 lower
market.

higher, replacement cows and cow-calf pairs $50 higher. Receipts
totaled 1167 head.
Amarillo Heavy Feeders Steady To $1
Lower
Feeder steers and heifers over 600
pounds were steady to $1 lower, offerings under 600 pounds mostly
$2-4 lower, slaughter cows and bulls steady to $2 higher. Receipts
totaled 1392 head.
Angelo Light Packer Lambs $5-10 Higher
Light slaughter lambs $5-10 higher
Tuesday, slaughter ewes $4-5 higher, nannies $3-5 higher, kids firm.
Sheep and goat receipts totaled 8300 head.
Athens Feeder Steer Prices Decline $2-4
Feeder steers were $2-4 lower,
heifers $1-3 lower, slaughter cows $2-4 lower, slaughter bulls $1-4
lower. Receipts totaled 2360 head.

bucks fully steady to $6 higher. Receipts totaled 3186 head.
Boxed Beef Cutout Prices Move Lower
The national boxed beef cutout
report for last week showed prices down 84 cents from the previous
week at $139.32. A year ago the cutout value was $150.01.

Feeder steers 300-450 pounds were
mostly steady compared to two weeks ago, over 450 pounds $3-5 lower,
heifers $4-6 lower, instances plainer cattle $6-8 lower, slaughter
cows and slaughter bulls $3 lower. Receipts totaled 2911 head.

Feeder steers and heifers were $2-4
lower compared to two weeks ago, slaughter cows $4 lower, slaughter
bulls $5 lower. Receipts totaled 1517 head.
Heavy Coleman Steer Prices Increase $1-3
Feeder steers under 500 pounds were
steady to firm compared to two weeks ago, over 500 pounds $1-3
higher, heifers under 500 pounds $2-4 higher, over 500 pounds $1-2
higher, slaughter cows and bulls $2-5 lower, replacement cows and
cow-calf pairs steady to firm. Receipts totaled 2930 head.

totaled 1435 head.
Hamilton Kid Goat Prices Called Steady
Kid goats were steady Monday,
nannies steady, wool lambs steady on a light test, Barbado lambs $5
lower, Dorper lambs steady. Sheep and goat receipts totaled 2536
head.
Imported Meat Total Even With Last Year
Imported meat for the week ending
October 3 totaled 21,833 metric tons. This compares to 21,845 metric
tons for the same period last year and is a negligible difference.

Thirty-eight bulls averaged $2425 here at the 13th annual
Lastovica Angus Farm and Guests bull sale. Lastovica Farm bulls
averaged $3791.
Mohair LDP Continues Decline; Wool

WASHINGTON — As of Wednesday the LDP for mohair dropped
to 29 cents. The LDP for ungraded wool remained unchanged at 29
cents.

Red Meat Production .4% Above A Year Ago
Total red meat production under
federal inspection last week was estimated at 963.7 million pounds,
.8 percent lower than the previous week and .4 percent higher than
the same period last year. Cumulative meat production for the year
to date was 2.5 percent lower than last year.
