Against Asking Price Of $83-84

Texas Panhandle feedyards at midweek were seeking a $3-4 rebound from last week’s disappointing $80 market. Bids were $79 with feelers to as much as $81.

Slaughter Meat Goat Prices
Steady To Up In Recent Sales

Slaughter meat goat prices were largely steady to higher in most recent sales. Hamilton was steady, San Angelo firm, Fredericksburg $10-15 higher, and New Holland, Pennsylvania $4-6 higher per head. Goldthwaite was the sole exception, reporting prices $3-5 lower.

Sheep Markets All Reporting Higher Prices
Sheep markets took a turn for the better this week, with all auctions reporting higher prices. San Angelo light packer lamb prices were firm to $5 higher, instances $10 higher. Fredericksburg light slaughter lambs were $10-15 higher while heavyweights were up $5-10. Goldthwaite packer lambs were all $5-10 higher, and Hamilton lambs were $5 higher. Billings feeder lambs were steady to $3 higher.

Feeder steer and heifer price trends were steady on few comparable sales, slaughter cows and bulls steady to $2 higher. Receipts totaled 1056 head.

Light slaughter lambs were firm to $5 higher, instances $10 higher, slaughter ewes firm to $5 higher, kids firm, nannies firm to $3 higher. Sheep and goat receipts totaled 7700 head.

Athens Feeder Steers Higher, Heifers Steady
Feeder steers were $2-4 higher, heifers steady, slaughter cows steady to $1 higher, slaughter bulls steady. Receipts totaled 2073 head.

Most Beeville Feeder Steers $3-7 Higher
Feeder steers were $3-7 higher, instances $10 higher, heifers firm to $3 higher, slaughter cows $1-3 higher, slaughter bulls $2 higher. Receipts totaled 771 head.

Billings Feeder Lambs Sell Steady To Higher
Feeder lambs 70-110 pounds sold steady to $3 higher compared to the last sale on November 16, slaughter ewes mostly steady, a higher undertone on slaughter bucks. Receipts totaled 2143 head.

Boxed Beef Cutout Prices Trend Lower
The national comprehensive boxed beef cutout report for last week showed prices down 99 cents from the previous week at $136.32. A year ago the cutout value was $139.62.

Feeder steers and heifers were steady to firm, except medium and large No. 2-3 unevenly steady to weak, slaughter cows and bulls $3-4 higher. Receipts totaled 1735 head.

Dalhart Feeder Steer Prices Remain Steady
Feeder steers were steady, heifers steady to weak, slaughter cows $1-2 higher. Receipts totaled 1066 head.

Durant Choice Calves, Yearlings Trade Steady

Fredericksburg Light Packer Lambs Higher
Light slaughter lambs were $10-15 higher, heavyweights $5-10 higher, slaughter goats $10-15 higher. Receipts totaled 2222 head.

Goldthwaite Packer Lambs $5-10 Higher
Slaughter lambs were $5-10 higher, slaughter goats $3-5 lower. Receipts totaled 2525 head.

Light Graham Steers Steady To $2 Higher
Feeder steers under 500 pounds were steady to $2 higher, over 500 pounds steady to firm, heifers under 500 pounds steady to $1 lower, over 500 pounds $2-3 lower, slaughter cows and bulls $1-2 higher, replacement cows and cow-calf pairs $50 higher. Receipts totaled 1974 head.

Hamilton Kid Goat Prices Termed Steady
Kid goats were steady Monday, nannies steady, Barbado lambs $5 higher, Dorper lambs $5 higher, ewes $5 higher. Sheep and goat receipts totaled 3064 head.

Imported Meat Total 1% Above Last Year
Imported meat for the week ending October 31 totaled 20,670 metric tons. This compares to 20,423 metric tons for the same period last year and is a one percent increase. The following figures represent metric tons.

Mason and San Saba stocker steers and heifers sold steady to $2 lower, better feeder steers steady with the balance $2 lower, feeder heifers steady to $2 lower, packer cows fully $3 higher, bulls $2 higher. Receipts totaled 7815 head for the two sales.

Feeder steers under 500 pounds were steady to firm, over 500 pounds $2 lower, heifers under 500 pounds $2-3 higher, over 500 pounds steady to firm, slaughter cows $2-3 higher, slaughter bulls $1 higher on a weak test. Receipts totaled 1105 head.

Mohair LDP Takes Big Drop; Wool Is Steady
WASHINGTON — As of Wednesday the LDP for mohair dropped from 22 to 10 cents. The LDP for ungraded wool was unchanged at 29 cents.

Feeder steers and heifers were $1-2 lower, slaughter cows and bulls $1-2 higher. Receipts totaled 696 head.

Red Meat Production 2.2% Below A Year Ago
Total red meat production under federal inspection last week was estimated at 933.9 million pounds, 2.9 percent lower than the previous week and 2.2 percent lower than last year. Cumulative meat production for the year to date was 2.4 percent lower than last year.

Feeder Cattle Prices Reported
Weak To $5 Off Across Country

Feeder cattle and calves sold weak to $5 lower across the country last week, the smallest decline noted on Monday in the Southern Plains and extreme Northern Plains and the full decline (instances as much as $10 lower) posted on Tuesday and Wednesday in the heart of the Midwest.

No price comparison was available for feeder cattle as the bulk of offerings consisted of consignments to a special replacement female sale; slaughter cows were $2 higher, slaughter bulls $1-2 lower. Receipts totaled 4243 head.

Feeder steers were steady to $4 lower, heifers weak to $4 lower, slaughter cows $1-3 higher, slaughter bulls steady. Receipts totaled 883 head.

Domestic wool trading on a clean basis was slow last week, with 207,660 pounds of confirmed sales and moderate demand. All prices are reported on a weighted average. Prices include sales from the Roswell wool sale.
