Slaughter Meat Goat Prices
Lower In Most Recent Sales

Slaughter meat goat prices turned generally lower in most recent sales. New Holland, Pennsylvania was steady to weaker, San Angelo $5-10 lower and Goldthwaite $10-15 lower. Hamilton called no trend and Fredericksburg went unreported.

Packer Lamb Prices
Both Up And Down

Packer lamb prices were mixed this week, though trends from two major markets were unavailable. San Angelo slaughter lamb prices were weak to $10 lower. Goldthwaite light slaughter lambs were down $10-15, while heavyweights sold $15-20 higher. At New Holland, Pennsylvania, slaughter lambs sold $6-8 higher. Hamilton price trends were unavailable, and Fredericksburg’s market reporter was absent this week.

Plains Feedlots Asking $94-95
After Last Week’s $92 Market

Plains feedlots were getting $90-91 bids at midweek against asking prices of $94 to mostly $95. Last week’s movement was heavy at $92.

Angelo Packer Lambs Weak To $10 Lower
Slaughter lambs were weak to $10 lower, slaughter ewes $5-10 lower, nannies weak to $5 lower, kids $5-10 lower. Sheep and goat receipts totaled 5900 head.

Athens Feeder Cattle Trend Increases $1-3
Feeder steers and heifers were $1-3 higher, slaughter cows and bulls $2-3 lower. Receipts totaled 1233 head.

Beeville Feeder Heifer Prices Gain $2-3
Feeder steers were $2-5 higher, heifers $2-3 higher, slaughter cows and bulls firm. Receipts totaled 535 head.

Boxed Beef Cutout Values Mostly Higher
The national comprehensive boxed beef cutout report for last week showed prices up $1.33 from the previous week at $149.89. A year ago the cutout value was $135.21.

Light Buffalo Feeder Cattle Prices Steady
Feeder steers were steady except weights over 500 pounds $2 higher, heifers $3 higher, slaughter cows and bulls steady. Receipts totaled 1222 head.

Light Coleman Feeder Steers $2-5 Higher
Feeder steers under 500 pounds were $2-5 higher, over 500 pounds steady to $2 higher, heifers under 500 pounds $2-4 higher, over 500 pounds $1-3 higher, slaughter cows and bulls steady, replacement cows and cow-calf pairs steady to firm. Receipts totaled 2805 head.

Comanche Feeder Cattle Steady To $3 Higher
Feeder steers and heifers were steady to $3 higher, slaughter cows and bulls steady. Receipts totaled 795 head.

Crockett Feeder Cattle Prices $2-3 Higher
Feeder steers and heifers were $2-3 higher, slaughter cows steady, slaughter bulls steady to $2 higher. Receipts totaled 1103 head.

Heavy Dalhart Steers Steady To $2 Higher
Feeder steers and heifers under 550 pounds were $4-6 higher, over 550 pounds steady to $2 higher, slaughter cows and bulls steady. Receipts totaled 1475 head.

Durant Heifer Calves, Yearlings Up $1-5
Feeder steers were steady, heifer calves and yearlings $1-5 higher, slaughter cows and bulls steady. Receipts totaled 647 head.

Heavy Goldthwaite Packer Lambs Higher
Light slaughter lambs were $10-15 lower, heavyweights $15-20 higher, slaughter goats $10-15 lower. Receipts totaled 2906 head.

Light Graham Steers Quoted $1-3 Higher
Feeder steers under 500 pounds were $1-3 higher, over 500 pounds $2-4 lower, heifers under 500 pounds $2-4 higher, over 500 pounds $1-3 lower, slaughter cows and bulls steady to firm, replacement cows and cow-calf pairs steady on a light test. Receipts totaled 748 head.

Hamilton Calls Stocker, Feeder Cattle Steady
No price comparison was available on Monday’s sheep and goat receipts of 2364 head.

Imported Meat Total 26% Below Last Year
Imported meat for the week ending January 23 totaled 20,735 metric tons. This compares to 27,832 metric tons for the same period last year and is a 26 percent decrease. The following figures represent metric tons.

San Saba And Mason Stocker Steers Rise
Mason and San Saba stocker steers were $5-8 higher, stocker heifers $5-10 higher, feeder steers and heifers $3-5 higher, packer cows and bulls steady. Receipts totaled 6066 head for the two sales.

Most Lampasas Feeder Steers $4-6 Higher
Feeder steers were $4-6 higher compared to two weeks ago, instances $8 higher, heifers $3-5 higher, slaughter cows $3-4 lower, slaughter bulls steady to firm. Receipts totaled 909 head.

Lockhart Feeder Steer, Heifer Prices Steady
Feeder steers and heifers were steady, slaughter cows and bulls $2-3 higher. Receipts totaled 495 head.

Red Meat Production 1.7% Below A Year Ago
Total red meat production under federal inspection last week was estimated at 920.6 million pounds, 1.1 percent lower than the previous week and 1.7 percent lower than last year. Cumulative meat production for the year to date was four percent lower than last year.

Feeder Cattle Prices Called
Unevenly Steady Across Nation

Feeder steers and heifers sold unevenly steady across the country last week, with weakness noted early in the week and modest gains reported later in the trading session. Stocker cattle and calf prices continue to search for a ceiling, with grazing types quoted firm to $4 higher.

Most Navasota Steer Prices $3-5 Higher
Feeder steers were $3-5 higher, instances $8 higher, heifers $3-5 higher, slaughter cows steady to $2 lower, slaughter bulls steady. Receipts totaled 1349 head.

Domestic wool trading on a clean basis was moderate last week, with 199,400 pounds of confirmed sales and moderate demand. All prices are reported on a weighted average.
